Title: TriStar Arms to carry full line of Canik pistols
Post by: JimThornTX on January 30, 2013, 08:35:26 PM
"TriStar Arms, an importer of sporting, hunting and self-defense pump, semi-auto and break-action shotguns, will be expanding their small offering of handguns with a full line of Canik pistols. They will be adding polymer, steel and alloy-framed pistols to their catalog, seven new models in 9mm and a few with .40 S&W variants."

I can't wait to see what models will be offered in .40 S&W. I am also eagerly waiting for somebody to import the Canik Piranha.

That is good news indeed.  I wonder when they will show up?

Bought a C-100 at the end of December. Great gun! I have been on the look out for a full size CZ 75b or BD but the gun shops can't keep any 9mm's on the self. I went to Acadamy and couldn't believe my eyes there was a CZ 75 in the case! oN closer inspection it was the Tristar S-120. the gun handled just like the real thing. Weight and grip were awsome (a little thinner than the C-100).
It was priced at $349! I paid $299 for the C-100 that is now priced at $349. I would have bought it but i really want a true CZ 75. If anyone is looking for a great deal on a great gun you shoot look at the S-120. I know i will be kicking my self later for not getting it but i always have my C-100.

That's interesting. At the last gun show, there was one dealer with a lot of TriStar, Canik, EAA and one or two CZ's, and that's all she had. I figured there was some connection between those brands (minus CZ).

If the prices were more reasonable at shows I might have gambled on a Canik or EAA (Tanfoglio).

Very Interesting!   8)  They've not updated their website as yet to show their expanded line.  http://www.tristararms.com/

If you go to the Tristar web-site home page and click on the catalog for 2013 you'll see the new Canik55 lineup.  I have my eye on the T-100 in chrome/silver.

Just looked at the catalog. I could be wrong but the new P-120 looks like the Canik Piranha I have been wanting.  :o ;D Reminds me of a CZ97 but it's a 9mm. Definitely on my wish list.  8)

Also note the C-100 .40 S&W Compact.  :o ;D Another one definitely on my wish list.  8)

I called Tristar today and spoke with a fella that was very nice and talkative, he is obviously proud of the quality in the Canik55 line.  I asked if Academy Sports will be carrying any of the new models, he told me they will have the T100 in blue only and should bee in stores in approx. 4-5 weeks.  He also said there is a good chance the warranty will be bumped up to 5 years.  As far as parts go he said they have many parts in stock and mags. will be in next week.  While talking about parts he said the slide stop in the C-100 is forged not cast and would be difficult to break.  Just thought I'd pass this along.

The Academy by me, to my surprise, already had the S-120 and T-100. I had only seen the C-100 before.

The C-100 was still $299 and the S-120 and T-100 were both $349.

Grabbed a S-120 for myself. Been wanting a CZ-75 for some time but I haven't been able to find any in stock so a $350 clone was a no-brainer.  ;D

From the picture I notice the trigger guard is different from the C-100, more rounded.

Funny, see my other post about the C-100.  I bought it at $299 a week or so ago, and got an S-120 today!

I'm thinking you mean that EACH could be purchased at $349.99.  If you could get BOTH for $349.99, that would be a real deal!!!  But alas, too good to be true.  ;)

Guys I spoke to a guy at Tristar and said they will be importing the Canik Piranha. It will be called the P-120. Looking forward to it to go along with my Witness and C-100.

That's the one I want.  ;D

That, and a C-100 in .40 S&W.  O0

Handled the Tristar/Canik compact today at Academy. Amazing how tight the fitment was, slide and frame was tighter than my CZ's. Rubber grips were nice, ergonomics were perfect, mag dropped free with a single button press. Really impressive for $350. Interesting how it more closely resembled a Baby Desert Eagle with the angled frame but the grips were CZ-style all the way.

<Edit: Looks like it was the Shark C:

If they had one in hard chrome I probably would have picked it up. These are really tempting, especially given how hard CZ's are to find. Too bad the sights are complete crap on them (glow in the dark paint dots, sloppily applied, but the CZ Mepro's fit).

I don't know how I missed this post, but appreciate the info. I discovered this when I found that Davidson's had several models of Tristar available. I now have 7 of these, but only my TP-9 is marked as a Canik55, all the rest are Tristar. I have a chrome T-120 (Shark FS), a chrome and a blue L-120, 2 of the Academy C-100's, and I found a dealer who had several Tristars at the most recent gun show and picked up a blued T-100 (Shark C).
