Title: P-07 Aftermarket sights
Post by: bobcatseger on March 04, 2017, 06:33:58 PM
What do you guys on here consider to be the best aftermarket sights for the P-07, whether it be night sights or fiber optics..? :-\

What do you like on your other guns? That's what really matters. My P-07 has a set of Tritium night sights from CZ-USA installed and they work fine for the intended purpose. There are nighties available from CZ Custom and CGW as well as fiber optics and plain black target style sights. Best is an opinion and preference not an end all be all. Your guns primary use and what you like when you line up the sights should be your main concern. Any of the mentioned sights are of top quality so there's no issue in that regard. We are pretty lucky as far as CZ's go in that those who are making parts for these guns are making really good parts.

Personal opinion and two sights meant for completely different things. I will always vote for fiber optic front and blacked out rear. Super fast and cheap too!

Night sights are worthless, if you need them glowing to see where you are pointing then you have no business shooting what you can't see past them. Ok, they aren't worthless but bleep close.

I still like night sights though. I really like the Sig sights on the Legion series. Best of both worlds.

But to answer you question completely. The best sights are the ones YOU can pick up absolutely the fastest when you need them. Throw the gun up and find the front sight ASAP and put it where you want the bullet to go. Bingo

The only CZ's I don't have night sights on are the three with red dot sights.

I thought you said In another thread that you like fiber optic front and black'nd out rear??
So which is it? Or does your personal preference depend upon which thread you happen to be answering?

My God, can't you two take your personal war into private messaging?
You've been following each other for the last couple days. It's getting really old. How about you to youngsters ignore each other, this isn't the playground.

Bobcatseger, what's you intended purpose? I ask because that makes a difference for me. For carry, I like Meprolights, although I think CZC and CGW have some good night sights from other makers. For range, I like Dawson's FO with a blacked out rear.

I have these http://www.czub.cz/en/eu-eshop/pistole/miridla/sety/svetlovodna-miridla-set-803.html on P-09 and Shadow. Red front, green rear. Actually, fibre on front is 1,5mm and 1mm rear. Works for me.

Did we ever get an answer as to a good fiber optic set for the PO-7?   :-\

https://cajungunworks.com/product/p-0709-fiber-optic-front-sight/  ... I think this will work???

My favorite sights are Trijicon HDs. I corresponded with them about making the new HD XR for CZs, although I'll probably waiting a while...

I have a slide with Dawson FO front and black rear. Love the Dawson sights. Had them on several different pistols. Just about everyone that looks at the sight picture on my 07 has commented on how much they love it.

Which front night sight works with the existing rear sight?  Thanks. I think it is fairly easy to black out the rear sight on your own.

You guys obviously have a different PO7 than I do. Mine came with a white dot front sight and plain black rear. Front sight shows a #2 which is 5.5mm and I gave up trying to buy mepro or any other night or tritium sights after a 3 month search. I was waitlisted on CZs site for the correct sights (40342) which were out of stock for at least 4 months but "would be in in two weeks" every time I called. I finally gave up the search, mounted a Crimson Trace and had a custom holster made. Love the gun but my big gripe with CZ has always been aftermarket parts. It's always been a problem they don't seem to care at all about solving.

They are not a popular gun.
If they were anywhere near as popular as M&P Smith & Wesson or Glock, there would be tons of accessories.

Yeah, I know. Sorry for sounding cranky, my PO7 sight search is just a sore point. Truth is, I love CZs and have since my first CZ 75 I bought in about 1985. What a great gun that was. Indestructible.

If you call CGW they can get you a FO front that will work with the stock rear, or a front/rear set up: FO front and black rear. Last year I called them looking for a front FO only and they said they had one. Then they offered the two sight set up which I took. The very first time I shot the pistol was at a CCW class with those sights, which brings me to an observation. I never once saw the FO while I was shooting, but shot well. The FO works well for me if I'm slow firing at stationary targets. Also the pipes come in two diameters and I would get the slightly larger one if I did it again. Not a bad problem, just older eyes talking.

After "properly charging" the tritium sights on the PO-7 the last couple of days...they are pretty darn good.  I am surprised on how good they actually are. Very bright.

How (other than taking it to a neutron accelerator) do you "charge" tritium sights?

Keep a LED light on them for about an hour.     Did not mean to disrupt the Physics class down the hall with incorrect terminology.....my bad.  :-X

Didn't know that's how you charge tritium sights.

Those are the standard phosphorescent sights - aka "Glow in the Dark". No radioactivity to provide a constant glow.

Didn't know that's how you charge tritium sights.

Those are the standard phosphorescent sights - aka "Glow in the Dark". No radioactivity to provide a constant glow.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tritium_radioluminescence    Tritium is used to illuminate the iron sights of some small arms. The reticle on the SA80's optical SUSAT sight as well as the LPS 4x6? TIP2 telescopic sight of a PSL rifle, contains a small amount of tritium for the same effect as an example of tritium use on a rifle sight. The electrons emitted by the radioactive decay of the tritium cause phosphor to glow, thus providing a long-lasting (several years) and non-battery-powered firearms sight that is visible in dim lighting conditions. The tritium glow is not noticeable in bright conditions such as during daylight, however. As a result, some manufacturers have started to integrate fiber optic sights with tritium vials to provide bright, high-contrast firearms sights in both bright and dim conditions.
