Title: CZ-26 Mystery
Post by: xthewater on June 02, 2017, 11:43:29 AM
We are in the course of moving from the U.S. to another country. Part of that move is to sell quite a quantity of firearms accumulated over many years, of both our sons (living in Germany) and mine.
The mystery pistol I'm referring to has a stamping on the left rear of the receiver that says cz26 There are five diagonal grip slots on the rear of each side of the receiver. On the top it is stamped CESKA ZBROJOVKA A.S. V PRAZE 31906. Complete wrap around wood grips (worn and old). Left side of frame at rear and right front of frame is stamped cz90327. Right side rear frame is stamped J (some kind of symbol) 29. Caliber is unknown, no stamping, but appears to be about 9mm(380?). The barrel rotates to lock when receiver closes, kind of unusual from all the other semi-autos we have. Has an old flap cover holster no markings on it but looks like there was something stitched to it at some time
This pistol belongs to our son who picked it up somewhere, he's not sure either.

Sure would appreciate some help on this so I know can get a better idea what to ask for it.
Thanks all.

Hi xthewater,

Is this what your pistol looks like?

Army pistol vz.24 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistole_vz._24 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistole_vz._24)
26 can be year of production.
J "czech lion" 29 is year of army acceptance.
Caliber is 9mm vz.22 - i.e. cartridge very similar to .380 ACP, but with improved load.
It?s mismatched pistol because of different numbers on receiver and frame.

Thank you Igrlik! Mystery solved. Makes sense parts don't match therefore I presume worth considerably less than otherwise may have. I shall inform my son. Perhaps a local dealer might be interested or Armslist. We are moving to Australia so all guns must go.
