Title: New (To Me) Accu-Shadow
Post by: Mick-S on August 10, 2017, 07:19:17 PM
Picked it up a week ago. Seller says it only had 600 rounds thru it. I doesn't look like it has had much use at all. It's going be my new IDPA pistol.
I've changed the grips and cut down a CZC Extended Safety. I like the grip better on the G10's over the Aluminum that came on it and I needed the safety to come further back for my short thumbs.

You mean division?
Enhanced Service Pistol (ESP). It's not legal in SSP.

Wow!  That is simply gorgeous.  Nice score and I really like your choice on the grips.

Nice.  Where did you get them grips? I went to the CZ-USA site, and found something similar for the 97, but nothing for the 75.

They are by Cool Hand.
They have an amazon store but I got these from Cool Hand on ebay.

Can you send more pics of the extended safety, bushing, etc.? How tight is the barrel to bushing fit?

I'll try to get some pics of the safety and  barrel/ bushing. I can say when in battery there is NO movement of the barrel.

Here is a couple pics of the safety. I'm not completely satisfied with the profile yet but it's getting there.

Here is a pic of the bushing. It's about the best I can take while standing to the side and looking at the phone from the side.
I refuse to point a gun at my head. (I don't care how unloaded it is)

I think this is the final look and feel I was after. Gives me a much better reach for short thumbs and I don't think it looks too bad. It sticks out from the side the same amount as the origin shadow safety. I'll eventually replace the right side safety with one that matches.

How did you cut down the safety?
And what did you use to return it back to a black finish?

I have the same safety for my TS and find the forward edge needs trimmed a bit.

How did you cut down the safety?
And what did you use to return it back to a black finish?

I have the same safety for my TS and find the forward edge needs trimmed a bit.

I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel and followed one of the stripes on the safety to cut the width down.
Then used a bench grinder to rough shape the profile I wanted. (you could also use the dremel with a grind stone and drum sander)
Keep a bowl of water handy to keep it cooled down while cutting and grinding.
I then used the dremel with the grind stone and the drum sander to finish shaping it like I want. then sanded the raw edge starting with 400grit and ending with 2000 grit sandpaper. I used some cold blue to turn it back to the black finish.

I hope that helps.
