Title: New to me Cz-27
Post by: industrialteacher on November 04, 2017, 09:10:39 PM
Purchased from a friend who wanted to sell to fund another purchase.
S/N: 302xx
All matching numbers with Nazi acceptance markings (frame, slide, barrel)
2 magazines, both marked
Bore looks new

From what I've read online  I believe it to be an early 1941 production.
I'd also located a correct 1941 holster but it hasn't arrived (owie they're expensive  :o )
I'll add the pictures of it when it arrives.

Were they grip screws strawed?.... they appear to have been but not sure.

anxious to shoot it!  ;D

Per Berger, Know Your Czechoslovakian Pistols (1989) it seems you are correct in your assumption of an early 1941 manufacturer date.

The grip screws on my 1945 vintage CZ 27 are strawed.

Rd,

Thanks for the confirmation!

I know it?s a single pic, but does the holster look correct?

I came across two ?reproductions?
Both were dated 1941 but the font looked different and they had a rivet where the stitching ended.

What is the writing say on the riveted button snap?

From the photo it looks like cursive, but I can't make out the letters.

Could you do a "rubbing" of it and post the picture?

rd,

I believe it says "Star" but the S does look odd.
Anyways, i have read a few references to a "star" marked rivet on the original Cz 27 holsters. I don't know when it began or how long it lasted.
(only examples I've seen are dated 1941-1942)

There is currently a 1942 dated holster on gunbroker that shows the rivet details better (paint is wore off of it)

Hope its ok to post link: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/711627317 (http://www.gunbroker.com/item/711627317)
Here's another example showing the rivet http://www.ebay.ca/itm/391885214197 (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/391885214197)

I'll take a "rubbing" this weekend.

edit: add url's

I zoomed in on the one close-up picture on Gunbroker.com.

That is the clearest, but has been overly polished which removed a little of the line work.

It is definitely "Star", the little leg to the left of the "S" is the crossbar of the "t".
