Title: No luck finding a Lefty, IWB Kydex for the 75 P 01 (Compact).
Post by: Laufer on December 07, 2017, 09:28:58 PM
My only previous holster is the iwb Remora for the .380 Russian Makarov. Age 62, and only began 'carrying' less than two years ago.
I'm brand new to any CZ handgun larger than my (former) CZ-82.

Searched last night and this combination of features doesn't seem to be listed.
The guy who sold me the gun is on Youtube: "Israeli Combat Tng." (in a few US cities) suggested a Kydex, but I have no idea how comfy they are, or whether they can easily be worn at the 0830 position etc.

Who knows, maybe a Kydex is not the best option for many people who have limited, part-time carry experience?

I got my P01 holster from these folks.  They make more than one model/type of kydex holster.

I prefer the kydex holsters from LAG Tactical, but they don't make holsters for the P01.  I was lucky to get one for my CZ 75 Compact before they stopped making for that model.

I find a pure kydex holster uncomfortable.  I have enough "hangover" my belt that the hammer/beavertail digs into me pretty bad.  So I attach a piece of leather to the inside (not in the holster, but the side up against my skin) that reaches up above the hammer/beavertail to protect my tender skin.  Not pretty, but it sure does work.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks very much. Looked at the images which are available.

Too bad that stores such as Academy don't seem to have anything except a very few types of basic leather brands.
Would be nice to have a close look at several other types, to help lead toward a decision.

I'm really not a "holster guy".  But if you're going to carry the pistol you really need a holster.

Years ago I used leather holsters.  Still have some nice ones from my LEO days.  But they fit the M29 S&W and the Colt 1911.  Not my CZ's I carry these days.

These days, I use kydex holsters.  The advantages I see in kydex holsters is cost (cheap kydex holsters still work) and they really hold your pistol in the holster without having to have a snap/thumb break strap.  I can modify them pretty easily myself if I see the need (add the leather skin protector, heat it up and bend/shape it a little bit here and there.)

The downside is the finish wear the stiff material puts on your pistol.  A really good leather holster doesn't seem to affect the surface.  My M29 doesn't have wear spot on it after being carried 5 and 6 days a week for a year.

Then again, is the pistol a keep sake or a tool?  Will you carry it every day, every where, or only occasionally?

M1A4ME:

Having a Remora as the only carry 'holster' (until now) and being an IWB, have no idea how anything else feels. The wear might not ever matter much at all. Could always look at rebluing.

As the .380 Russian Makarov has been the only 'carry' gun, the CZ would replace it, as long as a new holster could be Comfortably worn IWB at about 0830.

I've never had anything against OWB but might carry it into businesses where it is not welcome (nothing federal, naturally), and doubt that an OWB would stay concealed with this thicker CZ vs. Single-stack Makarov.

I?ll be getting a ?75B Compact w/o rail? shell for my Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0, plan to use it for my PCR. They sell the shell with rail and w/o rail, left or right.

I?ll let you know if it fits.

Thanks/Dank U wel.

Your nickname is very similar to part of our family name.
Or you are a Cheap Trick fan?

My nickname is derived from a pizza order that arrived at our house.

I gave them our last name, and what was printed on the delivery label was ?Zanderlindenerman?.

Close enough!

Laufer, my nephew bought a remora a few months ago and liked it so well he got another one for slightly larger pistol just a couple months back.  I don't think he uses any of his other holsters, these days.
