Yeah, that's a cool vid. I found an old Israeli police 75BD online. Can't wait for it to arrive, and hope its still in decent shape. CGWs will have it later this year to do their part.

I definitely appreciate the design of the pistol, but don't view the hammer and sickle on it as nostalgic any more than I'd view having a Nazi Swastika on a newly manufactured P-08 or P38 as nostalgic.  Tragic is more like what comes to mind.  It's estimated that the communists killed three times as many people as the Nazis.  That's nothing to commemorate in my opinion and I'm actually surprised that the Czech's would do it given the repression they suffered under during the Soviet occupation.

One of my 7th grade teachers escaped from Czechoslovakia after the communist takeover in 1948.  She said that her family was driven to the border of Austria by a resistance fighter in a truck.  When they got stopped at a checkpoint, the resistance fighter told them there were guns under the seat, so they had to let him do the talking.  He talked his way through the checkpoint and took them to the border.  She remembered seeing people waiting at the border and wondering why they wouldn't come get them and carry them across.  She also talked about remembering them giving her milk.  It was so thick and rich that she threw up because her stomach couldn't handle it.  About eight years later the wall came down and I've always wondered if she got to go back and see family members that were left behind.

In the late '90's my wife and I went on a tour of Eastern Europe.  While we were in Prague, we went on a tour where they showed things about the operation of the communists and secret police.  Near the end of the tour I asked the guide what happened to the communists and their informants.  She said that most simply disappeared so as not to face repercussions from those they had tortured and repressed.

Bottom line, I have a fondness for the designs of communist era guns (and Nazi era guns too), but not the evil that was carried out by them.

I would think very few people would argue against that......I served against Russian and Cuban led troops on the Angolan border in the mid eighties.....a lot of the ?Cold War? was very real in other parts of the globe.
