Title: Roller bearing for P09 - How to measure?
Post by: nevada72 on January 30, 2018, 05:21:15 PM
Sorry if this has been covered, but I haven't seen it in my searches. Two questions -

1. Can the bearing be measure in place or must it be removed?

2. I'm assuming the measurement is for diameter correct?

Stupid questions maybe, but the gun is brand new and I haven't taken it apart at all.

I vaguely recall trying to get my calipers on the Outside Diameter of that roller without success.  Suggest removing it to measure. Not sure it's be causing you any issues in stock factory configuration though?  I thought upgrading it came into play with competition hammer timing and firing pin block mods.  It's been awhile since I've done mine though.

Thanks for the feedback.

No, the double action isn't bad. It's a little gritty, but it's a brand new gun. The single action is likewise a little rough, but not bad. I figured I would do it as a "while I'm in there" task when I take the gun apart to polish the parts per the sticky in the Polymer section. I'll probably replace the hammer spring (18 lb), and get the short reset kit as well. It's not a target gun per se, so I want it to be a reliable self defense gun that's a pleasure to shoot.

The competition hammer will really help in addition to polishing the trigger bar.  Much improved performance hammer hook geometry compared to OEM.  The Pro Package has a .225 OD roller in it that may come into use after the trigger bar is polished and those tolerances stack.

If you can swing it, the Pro Package is the way to go ($224).

Might be worth your time to call David at CGW to talk through what you want.

I had considered that, but didn't know if it would apply for my use. But good advice to call David. I'll do just that.

As far as swinging it - Valentine's Day is coming up. Nothing says Love like gun parts.  ;D

Wife did not quite agree.  I though it was a sound idea
