I was looking into putting a "russian" kobra sight on my csa vz58 and was wondering if the ak side mounts are compatible with the csa side rails. Ive seen it done on a few rifles but not sure how exactly. Any insight would be extremly helpful

The CSA Vz58 side rail is a smidge narrower than the standard Russian or Bulgarian side rail -- that is, you probably couldn't fit a Vz58 mount on a standard AK side rail.
However, judging from my Midwest Industries and RS Regulate AK mounts, you could probably adjust the screw / nut to go tighter on the CSA rail so it would stick -- at least until you started shooting! Also, the AK mount is going to sit 1/4" to 3/8" higher than say a RS Regulate mount for the Vz58. I don't know if there would be any side to side variation between a AK mount and a Vz58 mount, but there very well could be, which might put you off center of the bore itself. Also, not sure if the angle of the side rail wedges are the same on the AK and the Vz so they would mate together perfectly, but they very well could be different which might not hold zero once you start shooting.
Not familiar with the Kobra mount, but from what I've seen of Russian mounts, they can be pretty dodgy compared to name brand US-made mounts (say MI or RS Regulate, but I wouldn't trust anything made by UTG Leaper). If you could mount the Kobra optic solidly onto a RS Regulate Vz58 mount, you'd probably be OK.
All things considered, there are a lot of possible variables at play that could screw you up, so it's probably better to just stick with an optic mount that's made to be used with a particular weapon and side rail rather than try to mix and match.

Thanks for the info i can get a kobra that comes with a picatiny mound and i might just throw it on an RS Regulate
