Title: Rami or P-06 Conversion to .357 SIG?
Post by: MeatAxe on February 18, 2018, 05:51:54 PM
Just wondering if you guys still convert .40 S&W pistols to .357 SIG, e,g. a stock Rami or P-06?

If so, is it just a simple barrel/ recoil spring swap or something more involved?

Of course, since CZ stopped production on these .40 S&W pistols, I'd probably have to dig up a used one for the conversion...could a 9mm RAMI BD or a P-01 be converted to .357 SIG without having to replace the slide?

Thanks!

I had a P-06 done a few years back......they used a full length SP01 9mm barrel, cut the barrel to length and re-machined the chamber for the Sig casing.......wasn't cheap, can't say I would go to the expense again, all things totaled $550-ish, parts/labor/machining/shipping  :o ..... Good luck with whatever you decide to do  ;)

Cool!

How does it shoot?

Did you have to change the recoil spring as well as the barrel or make any other mods?

I have a .40 Rami that i had converted to .357Sig. Bought a 9mm barrel and had it reamed to fit the .357 casing ( size is like the .40) . Shoots fine and kicks jus as much as a. .40, maybe a bit less! Cant remember who did it but not any of the CZ guys in the forum. Only problem is some ammo does not go all the way to the barrel to feed . Trying to fix it with stronger mag Springs.. Otherwise i like it.

To be totally honest it was a jam-o-matic, whether using factory ammo of various grades or reloads......I converted it back to a 40S&W in the end, ran flawlessly.  I was excited at the time, I was a huge 357Sig fan, but it was a big disappointment.  I like CZC for some things but won't request any true "custom" work from them again......maybe they have refined there process now, mine was a few years ago, since then they have actually put out 357Sig CZC labeled firearm......just keeping it real since you asked, a lot of satisfied customers though......yours truly, not one of them  ???

Yes! For some reason, certain brands can not make it all the way to the barrel ramp. Gets stuck just before. .357 Sigs.ammo should be easier to feed because of its design. I do attribute this to the mag springs. Hoping to get stronger springs. Have to wait and see.
