I'm working on a single action conversion and I'm wondering if I NEED to replace the sear with the pre-b wide sear.
I've been running the flat trigger with no FPB and it's working fine but now I want to improve the trigger pull more. I've ordered the competition hammer and 13lb main spring/firing pin spring combo.
-
You don't need to but what I would suggest in order to get the best trigger pull you can is to remove the FPB 'lifter' and replace it with the CGW spacer if you haven't already. On my SP-01 SAO conversion, I got the CGW adjustable sear and spacer along with a competition hammer.
-
May I ask why the lifter? It seems to me it would have little effect so I need to a little help to understand.
-
I don't know if I can get that sear in Canada. It may take some persistent searching.

It may not make that much difference to some, but that lifter adds a tiny bit of resistance to the end of the trigger pull as it is activated and has a small spring. If you no longer have a FDB, then there's no need for it, so might as well take it out for that little extra bit of cleanliness to the pull/break. That's one of the things that CZ fans really like in a Shadow or 85C, which don't come with FPB's. A CGW sear spacer can take its place. Granted, it's not like it's adding a pound to the trigger pull.
-
The spacer is just that... A spacer. If you are handy you might be able to make one yourself.
The lifter you have is doing nothing. Just adding the tiniest bit of weight.
Right now it's there just to keep the sear from moving side to side in the sear cage. If you remove the lifter it may move a lot more.
-
Thank you.
-
But if it's easier to get a Pre-B 'wide' sear where you are, that will also take care of that lifter vacancy, of course.
-
Could you grind the lifting arm off/grind it round so that it's there, like the spacer but doesn't have to be turned/twisted? Just takes up the space, but doesn't add to the force required to drop the hammer.
-
Grind off the top and bottom of the lifter, remove the lifter spring and......Whoop, there it is! No funny feeling in the trigger, gone just like magic. No need to trade or buy anything.
-
I thought about grinding the lifter into a spacer. I just don't like the idea of ruining a good part even though I won't want to put it back. I also thought of making a spacer. I didn't want to buy the sear if I didn't have to.
I haven't been able to find the adjustable sear. The pre-b wide sear is available and is tempting but I fear there may be fit issues and fitting tiny parts can be a headache.
I may try to make a spacer first. Then i can continue using the sear I have which already fits.
-
Can anyone tell me what size the sear pin is? I haven't removed it yet otherwise I would have measured it.

Try this(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180501/2b25b1f7ec8035899f189ccf9d444fbc.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180501/6603c1e744389fe99b4d3ec0fdb073e0.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180501/8969446a56f67ddd09ef2ae05e53b585.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180501/ea9adef985adb3703b70c9c199cdfdb3.jpg)

Awesome! Thanks! I think I can use the end of a snap ring as a spacer.

If I were going to make one (which is a great idea by the way) :
I'd find a metal tube that has an inner diameter that works for you. That is the hardest part to create.
You don't really care about the outside because you can fix that.
Take the tube and toss it in a drill. Take sandpaper and bring the outer diameter down to what it needs to be.
Then cut to your desired length.
-
You also have a great idea which gives me another. I have a collapsible antenna from an old radio. There are various sized tubes in it. The smallest one may work.

I was just about to ask the same thing. ;)

A piece of steel brake line may be a better option
-
The common sense side of me says that the spacer is only $5 ready to drop in. The DIY/must have now side of me says make it - but those quick fixes usually turn into an hour somehow... I did the drop in spacer and I'll do the same on my next build.
-
He can't purchase the spacer where he lives apparently.
-
The spacer is cheap and easy....if you can find one. Gun parts and not as plentiful north of the border.
-
I'm pretty sure the piece of brake line I got from work will be perfect for a spacer. It has a 3mm inside diameter.
-
I made a spacer. Here is a link to the picture.

It only took me about 30 minutes 😁
-
Looks nice. Polish it?
-
No polish. It just looks like that.
-
Thanks for the help guys.

I recently completed my hammer and spring replacement. I am very happy with the results. The trigger is amazing.
-
So i finally picked up some set screws for my trigger and now my SAO conversion is complete. The trigger is outstanding. it has very little take up and no over travel. I love it.
-
A nice trigger is....nice. Makes shooting more enjoyable.
-
It sure is. I used to be a 1911 only guy. But now, i'm really loving my CZ75. This may be a permanent switch.
-
Yeah I love my .45 1911's, but never really got along with them in 9mm. But SAO CZ's in 9mm I love. Reminiscent of the Hi Power, but with more options for customization.
-
I'm a little tempted by wood grips but i mainly shoot IPSC style so that doesn't help me any. I think it would look great though.
-
I kept one Colt 1911 out of the safe. The others are "resting" for some day when I give them to my boys. All I shoot these days are the CZ's.
The "small" CZ's are 9MM. The "big" CZ's are .40 S&W.
-
I've had two 40's before this one. I didn't care for them much. This is the first one I like.
