Speer Gold Dot is the most accurate in my CZs, which is the most important criteria to me.

Well, with the tracer at least you would know where the other half of the attacker went...

But difficult to use in a concealed-carry context.  And you must also carry buckets of water with you, to put out the fires after the confrontation is over...

I've been using Federal Hydra Shok +P+ (both 115 and 124 grain).  There are quite a few good ammo choices available.

The Federal premium hydra shocks are what I've been using in my CZ also. In my .45 I use the Winchester SXT personal protection 230 gr.

124 gr Speer Gold Dots are what work best and are most accurate in my PCR. Try some different weights of quality brands of ammo and see what works best for you.

Heavier bullet weights penetrate better, up to a point.  (In handguns, it is safe to assume that the heavier bullet always penetrates better.)  OTOH, a heavier bullet will normally be travelling slower, which means that a JHP is less likely to expand.

124 gr is a sort of "optimal compromise" [sic].  It is heavy enough to give decent penetration, and velocities will be high enough for reliable expansion.  More importantly (at least in my mind), most European 9mm pistols are designed around the NATO M882 load (124 gr FMJ at @1,200 fps).  In CZs, I consistently get better groups with 124 gr loadings.

ammo selection is based on what do you want to accomplish. There are two theories on everything.  A large bullet moving slower creates more shock damage specially if it hits bone ie. .58 cal. minie. Crushes bone matter to a pulp (literally).  On the other hand a smaller cal. moving much faster can create more hydro shock value. (disruption of internal organs)  Then there's FMJ less flesh damage more pentration vs soft pt. less penetration and more damage.
The Russians have a steel shaft inside their 7.62x 54 R ammo, and have also developed ammo w/ an air pocket in the tip to cause the bullet to yaw (twist/tumble) after impact.
There are bullets that shatter.  Short range but efective. (tunnel rat) loads.
I have always said, "it's not the sieze of the bullet that counts it's where you put it."

I have been using 200gr Hornandy XTP TAP ammo in my .45 and federal hydrashock 124gr +p+ in my 9mm. I am going to try some Double Tap though.

Currently, I'm using CCI Speer 124 grn Gold Dot's in 9mm for my Tanfoglio 9mm's.  My 9mm Taurus PT92 and Walther P38's like the 124 grn and 147 grn Remington Gold Sabre's, and the Federal 124 grn EFMJ.  Will be testing the 124 grn Federal EFMJ in my Tanfoglio pistols, sometime soon.

In the .45 ACP, my .45 Witnesses like practically everything so it is hard to pick.  Currently, I am using the 185 grn Remington Gold Sabre, but I also like the 185 and 200 grn CCI Gold Dot HP's.

Check out www.firearmstactical.com they have tested most everything.
I think the 147gr 9mm is best. These almost always expand to .60-.70cal and penetrate the ideal 12-18" The 147's also have a sub-sonic velocity around 990fps. I think this gives the best accuracy and won't ring your bell so bad without muffs. The 147gr 9mm bullet also has the higest BC and SD of any semi-auto ammo. ;)
