know I want a 452 .22lr, but which one?
« on: June 16, 2002, 04:08:20 PM »
Hey, everyone!
I own 3 CZ pistols: 75, 83 and 97, and would now like to get a CZ rifle in .22.  At the last INDY1500 that I went to (June) I saw a 452 for $195 (wish I could remember which model, all I can tell you is that it had iron sights).  I am kicking myself for not getting it right then and there.
I'm just a plinker, so I really don't need/want the more expensive scope-ready models.  Two questions:

1. which model did I more than likely see (in case I end up going to a dealer and ordering one)? and;

2. was $195 a good price??

thanks!!

Yes thats a good price. I bought my sons a Youth/scout model for $170.00.  Really I use it more than them. Lotsa fun...

Have you seen the CDNN ad for the 452 at $170?  I would like to know which one it is.  If that rifle they are selling is adjustable trigger and drilled for mounts, well, I think I have talked myself into calling them to find out!

You were probably lookin at the Military Trainer, sometimes called the Special.  This is the entry level rifle but for all intents and purposes it's the same action as the higher priced mods.  the difference is in the stock and the finish.  I found the Trainer local for 182 so your in the ball park.  It lists for 233.

I bought this rifle at a gun show in Orlando (didn't notice any "gun show loopholes",by the way) and it was $189. After tax, $5 dollar fee for background check and 5% fee for using a debit card, it came out to $220. It's my second CZ and I look forward to lots of fun......eric

I have a CZ 452 American, and a CZ 452 Special.  While I have not yet free floated the barrel and installed a lighter trigger spring on the American, I have installed a lighter trigger spring on the Special.  At this point the Special, which is much less expensive than the American,
is the more accurate of the two.  The Special, at $233
suggested retail, and often available at $190-$200, is a great buy.
