CZ 750 Sniper

Hi,
I am looking to buy a sniper rifle and I saw this new one made by CZ. I seem to be unable to find ANYONE that has had in hand this rifle or shot this rifle. I see that in the website it is stated to have a efective fange of 800 Yards, I was just wondering since the 550 .300 WM is stated at 1000 yards MOA shouldn't the sniper be a more precise weapon?
Did anyone see one of this or tested it?

I just bought mine, but haven't shot it yet (still waiting on a scope).

I am a bit surprised that the stock is a bit more flexible as compared to the composite stock on my Rem 700 PSS. However, even with the longer barrel it is lighter than most tactical rifles I have handled.

I especially like the standard features such as the adjustable set trigger and the adjustable LOP and cheek piece.

I also think the mirage shade is rather ingenious. Much better than the Sinclair shade.

I was reading through some of these long-dead and seemingly unresolved threads to see what all I've been missing, and figured I'd reply to this one just for kicks.  I believe what CZ was getting at with the 1000 yards for the .300 mag vs the 800 yards with the .308 has more to do with the cartridge than the rifle.  The .308 will be just as accurate as the .300 mag, but it will not have as much energy.  Hence, it will not be as effective at that range.  Also, ballistically speaking, the .300 mag would have a definate advantage at 1000 yards because of the bullet drop.

  As far as the term "sniper rifle" goes, I think CZ should have given it a more suitable title, as most people who buy the rifle will certainly not be using it for that purpose.  The marketing department must have thought long and hard about that one.  Your average deer rifle would fit the bill of "sniper rifle" just fine.  I think "precision" rifle would be a more accurate (pardon the pun) name for the rifle.

I think if CZ made the 750 available in .338 Lapua caliber that it would be real competative with the Armalite and Sako police snipers.

I'm seriously considering buying a 750 S1 M1, but good information is scarce. I have a Savage 110fp in .308 and it consistantly shoots .40" or better @ 100yds (3 shots). My buddy's Remington 700 SPS .308 does slightly better. The CZ 750's action and stock are so attractive I'm willing to spend the dough. I need to know if it can beat my savage and my buddy's remington. My savage also shoots 2.5" @ 400yds (5 shots). Any info and/or experience with a CZ 750 or simular model would be much apprecieated! Thanks!

I ordered my CZ 750 S1 M1 two weeks ago. I'm just waiting for the law-enforcement to check my safe so they can give me the license to pick up the rifle.

I will post here as soon as I acquired my weapon.

I've been lusting over the 750 for some time now. My only concern is that in .308 I would imagine a heavy barrel 550 would possibly be as good out to 800 yards, only without the adjustable LOP cheek piece and shade. I would love to get some thoughts on the 550 for long range shooting vice the 750. I can afford the 750, I'm just not certain it would be worth the extra bucks when CZ has another rifle that could perform as well for much less coin. Less put out on the rifle the more I could put into optics.

My thoughts exactly! Although the 750 looks better, I wouldn't spend the extra cash if it doesn't PERFORM better...

I had several guns of which I had to choose. They all had a comparible design but CZ was farout the most cost effective. Other rifles of the same design started at 3500 euros up to 6000 euros (compared to the CZ 1950 euros).

The 550 is a lot cheaper but the Netherlands we can only shoot at 100meters (maybe soon at 200m if a military shooting range in Budel will be opened for civilian shooters). So... no long range shooting.

Hoezo alleen in Budel? Je kunt toch tot 800 meter schieten op de Harskamp..? Gefeliciteerd met je aankoop trouwens, ik vind het een ?bergeil wapen!

Great, driving for two and-a-half hours just to get there. Not something to do on a regularly basis but worth to try out my rifle once a year or so.

If you put it that way.. On the other hand, having a "super de luxe sniper" and only shooting 100 meters with it would be a pitty.

As promissed.

Here are my findings with my CZ 750 S1M1 (using a Barska Swat 6-24x60 IR scope)

It has much less recoil then I had expected. The bipod didn't bounce around like it does with a Remington 700 (at least the ones I have fired).
It fits perfectly in my hand, and against my cheek and shoulder.

The first few shots loaded difficult (but that smoothened after a few shots)

What is your first impression on it's accuracy? What was your group size @ 100 meters? Did you shoot factory ammo, or a handload?

I fired (shop) handloaded (139grs). I did not handload them myself

All shots are within 20mm only using the bipod for stability. The first shot was straight in the middle. That evening I fired only 10 shots.

On the 15th november I'm going to fire it more often (50 shots or so) to see if the accuracy changes when the barrel gets warmer. Then I'm also going to fire factory ammo (Sellier & Belliot - 11,7g/180grs) and military ammo.
