CZ40B specifications
« on: August 01, 2008, 06:31:35 PM »
Hi all,
I'm going to be getting one or two of these but have some questions first.  First, what length barrel does the 40B have?  Second, was the 40B designed from the ground up to fire .40S&W?

Right now I have a 75B and a 75SA and love them both.  These 40B seems like a tremendous bargain.

Thanks

Well I found that the barrel is 111 mm, so about 4.3".  Should have looked harder.  Dumb newbie.  ;D

Picked-up a 40B couple of weeks ago... about 300-rnds thru... great shoot... flawless, CZ quality all over, big-gun feel with a soft recoil!! As all the guys have mentioned, it's simply a great deal NIB for $289 from CDNN... comes with ONE mag, so add another $20 for a second, and you're set!

Angus's got a pretty good handle on the 40's history (read his opening post)... it was started from 'scratch' with Colt, so the .40 cal was NOT an after-thought.

Regarding size, I have a 75B and a SP-01... laying 'em down alongside the 40B... both are about 1/2" longer (barrel length)... weight of the 40B is slightly lighter that the 75B and alot lighter than the SP-01.
For about $300 it's a 'no-brainer'... go for it!!

buy it. :)

the 40b is built up as a 40 only frame and slide.

i wish CZ made these in 9mm and 45 as well. i do believe it'd sell well, especially at these prices.

I got 2 on the way  ;D.  I also ordered a bunch of CZ75 mags in .40 S&W based on what I read here that they work fine in the 40B.  The salesman at CDNN swore they didn't work, but I ordered them anyways.  Who is right?

They're the same mags.  The 40B has a thicker baseplate (which can be swapped out.)

The CDNN guy would have been right had he said the 40B mags wouldn't work in the 75B in .40 -- as they won't lock in place.

That is exactly what I thought.  I didn't want to argue with the guy though since he was being nice and called me after I had ordered to tell me of my "mistake", so I politely told him to send them anyways.  Can't wait for my pair of 40Bs.

save some 40b pistols for us! :)

the 12 round mec-gar cz75 40sw magazines work flawlessly. the spring will be ridiculous until you leave them fully loaded for a few days, then they become stiff, but manageable.

I could never get these magazines to fully load, when I called Mec-Gar he recommended magazines for EAA Witness, magazine model #MG-GT40-12. These easily load all 12 rounds and I never have any problems feeding from them.

Mec-gar's witness mags may be very good, however i would be very carefull not to use mags from eaa witness, (tanfoglio) they have had a really bad batch lately. This has caused me a lot of problems with two of their pistols.  blue
