DIY moving action targets...
« on: December 15, 2008, 08:02:01 AM »
i bookmarked a website a while back to some guy who had plans and pitures to bozens of moving targets for IPSC and IDPA.... i can't remember for the life of me what the site was called. he had rolling targets that rode on skateboards, electric ones that ride a monorail, and many more in addition to drop turners and swingers and others.... anyone know of such a site? i've been googling it for a while and haven't found it in the clout of the web lol. thanks guys.

You're probably already  familiar with this one, but  this is the only one I know of.  It has quite a few IPSC movingdrop/turners/other targets and some "tactical" movers.  VERY Pricey!   Also click on the electronic targets.

My son and I are supposed to look into building a moving target rack  using a garage door opener---remote control--auto reverse--etc. ???

I don't have the skills tools or space to build these moving targets. For the targets to be shot at an IDPA, or IPSIC match they need to work every time and be consistently made. If one of the moving targets is shot there needs to be a replacement that works exactly the same. They need to work in all weather. . Wood cannot  do this. Wooden moving targets are good for a fun shoot.
I shoot in Canada and they have some funny rules about no steel on the ranges.  Yes we have guns to. This really limits what we can do here.
I found a place that makes moving targets out of plastic.
Looking at their youtube channel they started with wood and went to plastic.
If you want to buy moving targets this looks like a good start.
He sells some 3 gun moving target stuff, like clay pigeon holders to put on the moving targets instead of cardboard.

This thread is more than 8 years old,  but still interesting.  My son and I never did develop the garage door motor idea.  Still think it would work nicely for some target arrays,  RT to LFT/LFT to RT or uprange &;downrange.
