9mm Zero Bullets Are In Production Now
« on: January 14, 2011, 07:39:50 PM »
Several posters have expressed interest in the "out of stock" Zero 9mm 125gr JHP bullets.

I corresponded with 'Alison' at Zero Bullets, and she said the 9mm bullets are being produced again now.  She said my order will be shipped Tuesday since Monday is a holiday.  The other Zero distributors should have them in stock now or very soon.

Are they really that worth waiting for?  I've never tried them myself, but I am interesting in a HP bullet that's not expensive like XTPs that I can use in my CZs.

8.39 cents each- shipped.  $251.76 /3000 shipped.

All posts I have read and personal experience with 3K of the Zeros find them very accurate.

It depends on what purpose you're planning on using the bullet for. The Zero's are very consistent and accurate, and since there is no exposed lead base, they don't produce any smoke. Great for competition. If you're planning on using the bullet for hunting or self-defense, I'm not sure whether or not they were designed with terminal performance in mind. In that case the Hornady with it's high price tag may be a better choice. I'm not saying the Zero's don't have a good terminal design...I just don't know. You may want to call them and ask them directly about their JHP's design.

For now I just need an inexpensive HP that I can use for bowling pins shoots.  The range requires HP for 9mm.  At 8.39 cents, it's not much more than the Berrys RN I've been using.  Can't wait to try them.

For pins, I don't think you'll be sorry buying the 125 JHP Zeros.

I've shot a lot of Montana Gold 124JHPs and they also shoot well;  but they have a straight 'conical' nose that didn't load as easily in my turret press.  While 'feel' is subjective, the Zeroes just 'feel' softer and smoother to me.  They even load more consistantly than FMJs in my Lee press
I shoot them about .1 gr lighter than rfwobbly above.

fxrider:  I agree fully.
I know it's no kind of realistic test, but I can never resist the world reknowned phone-book test.   ;D

Both these hollowpoints do more damage to three thick phone books (back-to-back) than the 124gr FMJs;  but they also have too much penetration compared to a sd round.

I've been watching both Roze and PVI for a few days now.  Shooters Connection is out too.  I think pretty much everyone shows out of stock.  I just got a thousand Berrys so I'll be set for maybe a couple months.

I don't make my own SD rounds, but it's interesting to know about the phone books.  I'll have to terminate a few phone books when the weather gets warmer:)

Thanks rf.

I emailed Roze , but I'll try Magnus if that doesn't work . [Magnus: Yikes: $92+/1000 + $10.60 per box of 2000 max (9.7 cents ea)]

I begged and offered to buy lunch if I could order/back order. ;D

I reloaded about 400 and shot 100 + yesterday.   They really do load and shoot consistently in my gun.

I think I'm done with other bullets---mostly ::).
