CZ 85B Range Day
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:05:35 PM »
I took my new CZ 85B to the range today.

I shot 70 rounds during my lunch break.
The first five sets were consecutive, just time to reload and mark up the next target.

Weapon: CZ 85B, factory setup, 2009 model
Ammo: UMC 9mm 115 grain FMJ

Firing Set #1: (First time I ever fired the weapon)
Distance: 7 yards
Rounds: 5
Time: ~15 seconds

Firing Set #2
Distance: 15 yards
Rounds: 15
Time: ~45 seconds
Stance: Relaxed Isosceles

Firing Set #3
Distance: 25 yards
Rounds: 15
Time: ~45 seconds
Stance: Relaxed Isosceles

There are no misses so some have to be in the same hole.

Firing Set #4:
Distance: 7 yards
Rounds: 10
Time: ~8 seconds
Stance: Relaxed Isosceles

I loaded up 10 rounds and dumped them as fast as I could fire. I have never shot like that at a target before.

Firing Set #5
Distance: 7 yards
Time: ~30 seconds
Rounds: 7
Stance: Relaxed Isosceles

I drew seven small circles on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. I shot one shot at each circle and quickly aimed at the next circle, working from left to right. When I retrieved the target I drew a line from the circle to the point of impact.

I used my iPhone Gun Log app to record all of my results.

Conclusion:
I love this gun. I will get used to the trigger and will tighten those groups up.

I always shoot free standing, follow ups were natural.

I could only get 15 rounds in the mags.

Zero malfunctions.

Sight hold - I lined up the three dots and the point of impact is directly in line with the front sight dot.

I am always very nervous shooting a new weapon and my hands visibly shake. I can't stop it. I know the groups will tighten up now that the initial excitement has passed.

The CZ 85B is exactly what is advertised and is a pleasure to shoot. I can not say that about all of the pistols I have owned!
