CZ 455 Muzzle Brake
« on: June 07, 2013, 04:50:42 AM »
I am wanting to find a muzzle brake for a CZ 455, what thread count is the barrel ? I see a lot of muzzle Brakes for a 1/2"-28 thread.
My first post and my first CZ hope it will be better than the Savage that I owned.

Here is a cool article I read before.
http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/guns/rifles/shooting-tips/2008/11/muzzle-brake-pros-and-cons

I rememberd this when I was searching for a scope for my 527 Carbine. I went with a Hawke scope since they were developed for air rifles and air rifles. Air rifles shake like crazy when fired and scopes for air rifles are more durable for rifles with breaks.

May be a bit off base from your question but thought it might help.

Welcome.  CZ's are better than Savages in my opinion.

Why do you want a muzzle brake? Looks?

The threads on the CZ will be 1/2-20.  You will need and adapter to get them to 1/2-28.

I do not like the little thread protector that comes on it, I think I may pass on that gun and just buy a straight Varmint instead.

I did buy the Straight Varmint in 22lr today. Should be on the way to the FFL holder by Monday. I bought a Mueller 8-32x44 scope to go on it. It is hard to find 30mm scope rings with 11mm dove tails in them. Saw on another site about these, wounder if anyone has tried them? https://www.jnpgunsprings.com/product_info.php?cPath=10&products_id=236 I purchased a pair and was curious how they worked ?

Why would you want a muzzle brake on a 22?

I don't, I was wanting a CZ 455 varmint with thumb hole stock and the only one I could find has a 16" barrel with the threaded end for a suppressor or a muzzle brake. The factory end cap looks hideous, so you can only hide the threads with a muzzle brake or a nice fitted end cap that would have to be made. I passed on this rifle after realizing that the threads were 1/2x20 instead of the 1/2x28 common thread. I ended up buying the CZ 455 Varmint with the heavy 20" barrel and will put the thumb hole stock on it from Boyd's.

I was thinking the same thing Didereaux was thinking  :o - thanks for explaining.
The 455 varmint will look sweet when finished. Make sure you post us a pic when done.
