CZ 83 upgrades?
« on: October 28, 2013, 11:06:15 PM »
What upgrades are available for 83's to make them better shooters? I love mine but want to make it better.  I have some night sights to install but am thinking ahead to the next step. What would the 83 club recommend?

Grips are always a good start. Problem is finding the right ones, only you can make that call.

Yeah. I like the look of the walnut ( and they are in stock at CZ) but don't know about how they function. Might just take a chance on them.

Hiya SteveM70 and thanks for the thread. Had the internals polished, and the action smoothed out, some trigger weight lightening;especially for the DA, as it dosent half cock like the po2 does for carry. Believe a member here had hi vis sights installed on several of his and I think they look like a good upgrade. Was going to add the same hex site my po2 has but decided I didnt want the additional 1/4 in of height, the factory site is plenty good in the 15 to 20 ft range. The wood grips are a plus as they dont snag on clothes, and checkering helps, waited 3 months for my from europe, worth the wait. Be well.

I have large hands and find the grips too small.  The CZ 75/85 rubber magazine base plate fits the 83 magazine ($9 at CZ-USA), and fills my left hand better giving me an improved grip.

Yeah Carp, the sailorkurt site looks good and pretty extensive. I just started looing through the first few posts  this morning over coffee. I'm starting to think I need a extra, extra 83 just to tinker on.   ;)

Thanks again CZ forum

The main upgrade I would make is the grips. I ordered my Black/Walnut grips from Marschal and am eagerly awaiting their delivery. I'm expecting them to provide a much better grip and feel, as well as look, then the somewhat slippery and hollow factory grips. The thumb safety might use some polishing to be smoother, but I don't carry cocked and locked so that isn't an issue for me. The trigger on my recent production civilian model CZ-83 is as smooth as butter, and I really don't want or need it to be any better at this time. The factory sights don't bother me, as I've owned and shot handguns with worse sights then this.

Some walnut grips have been on my to do list for a while and I'm thinking that's probably next.
