Keep in mind CAI rifles use all surplus parts including the piston.

FWIW and to keep the facts right, the standard VZ 58 surplus piston is chromed.

Quote
The entire piston rod is chromium-plated to prevent fouling.

Bonesteel's US piston is also chrome plated.

I have a spare piston made by/for ORF
it's non chrommed, machined out of carbon steel
I'm thinking about blueing or nitriding it

My VZ2008's is chromed.   Apex's appear to be chromed from their picture.  Bonesteel's surplus pistons look to be chromed too.

Like car exhaust, the brown makes sense with stainless pistons, but it shouldn't be from what I've seen... Guess it is, haha.

Not true. Obviously as you probably know the barrel and receiver are newly made (in America). The muzzle device, disconnector, sear and gas piston new and US made. Unless they changed things. These have to be used (or other parts would) for 922r compliance.

Looks like those parts places have just about everything but the lower receiver.  Is that right?

CNC warrior has the lower receivers in stock for $399.  Numrich/Gun Parts Corp is good for parts too.  Looks like Czechpoint carries new production springs for the most part.

My VZ2008 has what appears to be a stainless piston, which fits with what you're saying here.  If it's stainless it must be US made as the original czech guns have chrome pistons in them.

Looking again, mine has a brassy finish.  So it might be stainless.  Might be a need for bonesteel's afterall.

I've seen it happen with Handguns and Shotguns, too!  ;D

Great!. I like hearing these range reports. I also like threads on round counts. I started one in the Clone sub forum regarding Canik Pistols and the participation was not vey significant. I guess I'll try one in this sub forum and see if we get better participation.
