What height Scope rings for CZ527 Varmit with Nikon 40mm scope
« on: February 21, 2014, 10:48:32 PM »
Hi all.

I've got a CZ 527 Varmit on the way, as well as a Nikon Buckmaster 4-14x40 scope. I'm wondering what height rings would be optimal. This is a NEW rifle, and I believe it has the new style bolt.

All thoughts and recommendations appreciated.

Medium as a minimum. Magnification selector ring clearance from the bolt and your hand will be the big issues.

I suggest you get some Warne medium rings from a supplier who is prepared to swap for high if necessary.

Best of luck.

zg47,
I'm a fan of Warne Rings, and have dealt with them directly in the past. Sounds good to me.

I just picked up my new 527 Varmint in .204 yesterday from my ffl it was ordered from Buds. To my surprise it had rings with it. Kind of a bummer because I already purchased a set of Burris rings. My understanding was that the American came with rings but not the Varmint. Just thought Id give you a heads up you may want to wait and see if yours has rings in the box also. And mine has the new bolt handle also.  ;)

Most CZ centerfire rifles that don't have iron sights do include a set of CZ scope rings.  They are a tall height.

Thanks everyone. Mine is also coming from Buds. I think I'll wait until it shows up at the FFL and see if it comes with rings. I'm in CA, so I have to wait the 10 days after the first visit to the FFL.

My 527 KV came with it's own rings and didn't have a problem with mounting a Swarovski  with 50mm objective. I suppose some do and some don't come with rings. I recall it even said on the box it came with them, this was several years ago.
