P-09 at bullseye practice, getting better...
« on: April 19, 2014, 04:12:29 PM »
I'm still about 3 points off my 22 target average but I'm slowly moving up.  With a one week layoff, I averaged 95 3x for 15 targets.  I can average nearly 98 with the 22 now.  Slow fire.  Not rapid, not timed.  Here is the best of the 15 targets.  Gun has nearly 5k rounds through it to date.  May clean it some time.

I haven't shot a 100 target with this gun yet, maybe Sunday.  I have shot two 100's with the 22.  Still experimenting with grip/trigger finger placement.  Plus, bullseye is still new to me.

Great shooting Joe!

Do your scores drop much switching to irons vs the optic?

Irons vs red dot--I am new to bullseye so I think I am still learning.  I haven't switched back to irons holding everything else constant.  Right now, I would say the red dot is 5 points advantage over the open iron sights.  But it is due to my eyesight, not necessarily a limitation of the iron sights.

Joe

Did it!!!  Got my first 100 centerfire...with the plastic P-09 with CGW parts.

This is fun.

Clean one handed shooting.  Every video I see, I want a red dot more and more.  ;D

First to shoot a 100 with a P-09 on Easter morning facing South in the rain, yes, I am sure I was first!

Practice is paying off.  I shot my fourth bullseye match on Saturday the 26th and finished 3rd overall and 3rd in centerfire with the P-09.  But I was only 14 points shy of winning centerfire out of 900 possible points.  Two very experienced bullseye shooters shot higher scores.  I was very happy with this result as I narrowed the gap between my score and theirs by several percentage points.  The plastic gun is not holding me back, that's for sure.

Hope to win centerfire next month with the plastic gun.  I am very happy to be shooting it instead of something five times the cost.

I think I can improve my mental game alone enough to improve my scores substantially over this month's match.
