My P-07 has same gap. I think it is do you can see if there is a round in the chamber.

Yep.  I use it to visually verify that my weapon is loaded before holstering.  I never use it to verify that it is not loaded, though.

I like being able to see the shiny rim of a loaded round in my P-07. It makes me feel all warm and secure and happy inside just knowing that it is loaded.

I am actually quite impressed with that tiny bit of engineering.  It is such a simple non-mechanical way to indicate a loaded chamber.  No parts to wear out or replace (or to ceracote!).  Others guns are jealous...
