I also wonder if it would be possible to cut a "Window" on each side of the slide completely through, near the muzzle, on the angled side surface to remove a bit of weight?

It's sort of funny you'd ask such a question, because:

 ;D

Brother in law snapped this one and I didn't know it. Excuse the horrible quality. I'll get better pics once it's back from being coated. The thickness of the slide there makes the lightening window look really, really good because of the depth it adds when looking from the side.

I'll PM you in regards to your question. I don't want to violate any rules here without being a forum sponsor....yet.

What's your target weight? Is this for a race gun or just for fun? Following for pics and results.

No particular target weight. Just simple physics. A lighter slide will shoot flatter. You want moving parts lighter and static parts heavier. All that equates to a flatter shooting gun.

If anyone is interested in stripping their P-09 slide bare and taking it's weight, I'd be happy to compare it to what this one now weighs once it's back from coating and I can weight it.

Got to love how crappy USPS can be sometimes...
The coater we use is literally 2 hours away from us...and USPS couldn't manage to get the slide back to me in two days via 2 Day Priority. Sometimes I wonder why we bother paying extra money to get things shipped Priority with USPS.
I digress. Bed time...

Do you see the Front sight in the window when the dot is centered?

Yep, you see it right at the bottom of the window, exactly how I like it. I do not like a co witness on pistol red dots. Don't know why, just never have and they aggravate me. I like the front sight to just be visible right in the bottom of the window only to help acquire the dot.

That is my exact thought. I usually run a red fiber. But would switch to the green to contrast with the red dot.
