New Witness - imperfections on underside of slide
« on: July 25, 2015, 06:20:26 PM »
My new Witness with Wonder Finish (model#999101) came out of the box covered in thick, sticky oil and some places even had grease.  Being mainly a Glock guy, I'm used to running my guns pretty dry - I'll clean the gun thoroughly, but what's the best practice as far as lubrication with these guns?

Also, there appeared to be some imperfections on the underside of the slide, near where the firing pin block stop fits into the slide - here's a picture - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0mgLK8YXLUOVUVzQmxmZzJUZ0stXzhrQjlScVdtS1dVcjZR/view?usp=sharing

Anything that should concern me?

Thanks in advance for the guidance!

Those types of marks should not be there. I would polish them down smooth, should not affect function and will be easier than dealing witth EAA to get something done about it.

It looks like someone was smacking the area with a steel punch being held at a low angle.

Maybe the Italian method of doing a hardness test?  ;)
Frankly my dear, I don't give a bleep
