Perfecta brass...not good
« on: September 07, 2015, 12:33:00 AM »
While depriming/resizing/repriming some range scrounge I found a bunch of empty brass of of Walmarts' new loss leader ammo, Perfecta. I've been told that Fiocchi might be making this stuff. When I checked the brass, I found 2 out of 3 had off center flash holes, a couple so far off center I was curious how well it ignited for the original charge! I'm being to suspect it's not Fiocchi, but AMERC making this stuff...

Picking up 9mm brass after shooting at my practice range,  I see a TON of Perfecta 9mm brass.
I haven't tried it 'cuz I have enough of my favorites, Win and R&P.

Too bad Perfectas didn't check well.  There sure is a lot of it laying on the ground.

I have been using perfecta mixed in with federal and Winchester brass for the last 6 months. Other than the occasional piece of brass that got stepped on haven't found any issues.

Probably due to the price.  I know here in Indy my local walmart sells the Perfecta 115gr 9mm for $10.79 a box, which is the best deal going outside of aluminum / steel cased ammo.  My buddy has been reloading off my policed brass and hasn't mentioned any issues with it.  I wonder if the OP encountered a bad batch?

If you look at the Fiocchi Italy website, they list PERFECTA as one of their product lines. (Same font and same "F" larger that the rest of the letters - "F" for "Fiocchi")

Unless they have started subcontracting to a different Italian producer, it should still be Fiocchi manufacture. The PERFECTA .380 is identical to the ammo sold under the Fiocchi label.

That's too bad - I've always had good luck with Fiocchi. I was able to deprime them without breaking a decapping pin, but I think I will shy away from Perfecta for a while - I only have one decapping pin, after all.

Weird. I havent seen that yet and I check each piece of mine. I suppose the factory could have had some tooling slightly offset that day.

You could easily break a decapping pin on that one.

I've loaded hundreds of them and had no issues with Perfecta brass. Perfecta is definitely on my "good brass" list.

Interesting you had bad experiences with Perfecta brass. I've reloaded hundreds of Perfecta cases and there were a few times that the primer wasn't completely removed during sizing which prevented my LNL progressive press from indexing. I just had to wiggle the shell plate and raise/lower the ram a bit and the primer fell out. I never really thought much about it until seeing your post. It must be the off center flash holes that were preventing the primers from being completely knocked out. Luckily I haven't broke any decapper pins yet.

No idea on reloading it, but it shoots fine. I've not had any issues with it. It's a bit dirty. The price is fine. Probably only shot 250 rounds of it.

Only thing I have noted, Perfecta seems to be a FULL power load.

I've had a few off center primers holes also
Otherwise no issues.....not enough of issue for me to cull
I still only cull out cbc and aguilla
If I had more I'd keep them iin the mix...
