CZ 27 ?? Not entirely sure what I have here
« on: November 28, 2015, 06:46:08 PM »
ok folks, this is the story. I picked up this specimen from a friend of mine. I confess to not knowing much about it but it's in very good condition for it's age. I really don't care what it "may" be worth, I'm just curious as to what I have here. I did some research and I know it's not a "Nazi occupied" pistol. I believe this pistol was part of the first batch that was released after the factory was liberated and given back to the Czechs after WWII. The pistols released with serial numbers of 570000 are stamped differently than mine. Here's a pic of it. Any additional info is much appreciated.
Is this a CZ 27, 47, or 52 ?

Hi,
Congrats!  You have a very nice looking CZ 27.  The corners of the grips aren't even chipped.  :)

The '47' is the year of production.

Roger, thanks for the info. Of all of the CZ27's I "google", I don't see many in the configuration that I have.
I'm in need of a magazine though.

They can be hard to find sometimes.  Best bet may be your local gun shows, after Googling.  Some mags will have P. Mod 27 on the bottom, but not always.  BTW, a mag for a CZ 24 will also work.

If you get stuck and can't find an original Numrich offers a new replacement made by Triple K. No idea about the quality/functionality.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

Bump with a question:
Does anyone have a pistol like this with the same markings on the slide (Ceska Zbrojovka-Narodni Podnik, Strakonice) and the same serial range ?
If so, can you post pics ?

What round is that chambered for?  .32?  .380?

I just got a CZ 24 and it has the 27 mag but it works, so the reverse should be true.

CZ 27's are chambered for 7.65mm, .32 auto.

Here's a picture of one I have.  Serial number is 570XXX.

Thanks czechollector

When do you think our pistols left the CZ factory? Soon after the Nazi occupation?

I believe they were produced in 1947 as indicated by the "47" stamped on the frame.

Not all cz 27 are chambered in .32acp. There are a few rare ones in .380 acp. I have a mag for one if anyone needs a .380 mag. It wont work with anything but a cz 27/.380

Any CZ 27 with the Narodn? Podn?k lettering was made after the war. I've seen them dated 46-48 but they might go earlier and later. It was replaced by the CZ 50. It was an issue firearm for Czech police and Ministry of Interior forces and was for sale to those permitted to buy on the commercial market. Sometimes there are police or ministry markings, which are an area of collecting that is only partially explored.

CZ 27s made during the German occupation (1938-44) were labeled "Pist. Mod. 27" and other labels in German. It also says in the sight rib (From the top down) "B?hmische Waffenfabrik AG in Prag" which is German for "Czech [Bohemian] Arms Factory in Prague." They just said that; they were made in Strakonice and UB. These were issued mostly to police, SS, aviators, and other guys who weren't likely to get in pistol fights with the whole American/British/Red Army.

Prewar CZ 27s were marked with Czech police acceptance sometimes. The rib mark is "?eskoslovensk? Zbrojovka A.S. v Praze" which is the exact same thing as the later German label, just in Czech.

Most Czech pistols have proof marks. And the proof marks are usually dated.
