Got my S-120 today! (12-07-15)
« on: December 07, 2015, 07:49:26 PM »
After trying to get a CZ 75B from my 2 favorite LGS I finally ordered a Tristar S-120 in black from my new favorite LGS. It was in perfect oily shape. I cleaned it up a little and went to my friends private range. I shot 200 flawless rounds of mixed cheap ammo. JHP- Monarch & Independence. FMJ- Monarch, Winchester, Blazer & UMC. I shot Lefty and Righty and with both hands. Good groups at 10 yards and 25 yards. Sights were about 6" low for me but I had heard as much in a couple reviews. I guess I'll have to fix that.

After getting home and a good cleaning; The Trigger is even better. I'm loving the SA. The safety was plasticy feeling at first but now it's pretty sweet. The mags still don't drop free but the slide is like glass now.

Got mine for $325 plus tax. Academy has the C-100 in black for $329. If they will put it on sale for $299 I'll grab it. I'd probably jump on the first chrome / silver C-100 that I find.

I live 100 miles from CGW and will be considering some of their upgrades. Is there a Must Have upgrade? Thanks!

I'll try to post pics soon and will definitely post pics of any upgrades.

Mick

Congratulations. Canik makes a very fine pistol. Also, you can't go wrong with the C-100. I have the C-100 and a recently acquired L-120.

Is there a Must Have upgrade?

Grips and a #13 lb hammer spring make a big difference.

Do your mags show any excessive wear on the body where they might be hanging up? They should drop easy.

Thanks, No sign of wear yet. They are the 17 rnd Mec-Gar with the blue follower and they are stamped "9mm".

Love my S120.

I haven't done a lot to my canik in the way of upgrades, though I did swap the grips for a pair of VZ grips (which I like well but was more of personal preference) and I drilled the front sight and installed a fiber optic rod in it just because I had some extra fiber rod handy and was bored that evening, but the best upgrade I did to mine was remove the mag brake and installed one of the flat/straight guides so my mags drop free now.  http://czcustom.com/CZ_75-CZ_85-SP01Solid-Mag-Break.aspx

I am waiting on the mail to bring my LPA adjustable rear sight.  I think it is on it's 3rd lap around my state right now, but maybe the mail man will figure out  where my state is eventually.

I'll check out that link. My packages usually go entirely through my state to the next, then back to my city, then to my zip. So it passes my house at least 3 times without stopping.

I think I'd like to try an oem cz75 rear sight #6. From reading other threads that may fix my POI. I haven't been able to find one. Tried CGW, czcustom, eBay and Amazon. Any help here would be appreciated.

Mepro sights for CZ, and VZ grips. The sights will move you back up on target.

Got to love those Hogue Finger groove Grips!  8)  I have them on many other Cz Clones as well.  :)

Hi Mike.  Question about your holster.  Using  IWB LH G26 Blackhawk but wearing OWB and RH.   Do you think that holster would accommodate a 75B (or 75 Compact) with its square trigger guard?
