Hello from Southern California
« on: July 20, 2016, 12:12:27 AM »
Hey!

I'm about to make my first gun purchase, and it's going to be an SP-01.  I'd rather have the Shadow version, but it's not on the roster.  I read everything I could find on the Internet, but I still have a lot of questions, so I hope you'll bear with me.

Seeing how popular the Shadow is, I find it really odd that CZ-USA and CZ Custom don't list the basic SP-01 Shadow in their current catalog.  I know they want to move to their Omega trigger system and new polymer guns, but they've been really good about keeping a supply of older models chugging along.  So I suspect CZUB can't keep up with the demand and just starved the US for now.

I suppose it was a marketing decision to call the new Tactical Sport the "Shadow 2." It seems just as confusing as selling upgraded 75s and SP-01s with Shadow features as "Shadow Line." Something's lost in translation.

My neighborhood has been going downhill a long time.  I guess you could say that for all of California.  That's why I need a personal defense weapon right now. I'm planning to leave this disappointing state in another year or two.  Then I'll be able to buy whatever gun I want.  Maybe by then I'll understand these gun names.

Welcome! I'm also from California, in So-Cal.
Yes! The SP-01 is great, no where near the Shadow, but still great. With several mods, it can be even better. I've had mine for a couple months and slowly adding mods to it. Stay safe Mr. White!

Welcome from South Texas.
I just tried CZ Custom shop and they offer several SP01 Shadows:  black, duotone and more. :-\

Now,  I can't speak for CA's list;  but the SPO1 Shadows are on the CZ sites.

Also a newcomer to the CZ world from SoCal (Beach Cities). Just purchased a 75 BD. Having the Cajun Gun Works (CGW) Pro Package installed on this firearm. While corresponding with the gunsmith/owner at Honey Badger I noticed he had an SP-01 in stock so I bought it.  Note: David Milam at CGW recommended Gio at Honey Badger when I requested his input on finding a gunsmith for CZs in California. Taking the 75 BD to Gio tomorrow, NIB.

Being OCD, I purchased a CZ 75 D PCR today, before I have even DROS'd my SP-01.

Hello from NorCal. I started out with a CZ 75 SP-01 as well. I installed a Defensive Carry Package from Cajun Gun Works in it, and it is just my baby doll now. I love it to death. And I too am trying to leave this state and move to Arizona. As soon as my house sells I'll be gone. So I feel your pain.
