So, I've had some problems with the Kadet groups being a little disappointing over the last few weeks, but I hadn't taken the time to really see what was going on until last weekend.

Here are three 10 shot groups at 50 yards from Sunday morning.  Bad.  Bad.

Here are three 50 shot groups from this morning, Tuesday, after brushing the bore with a brush wrapped in Chore Boy all copper pad material.  Whatever was in the barrel, is out now.

This barrel has nearly 45k rounds through it.  I was thinking maybe it is just worn out.  But the problems started too suddenly and ended with a good cleaning, so I'm thinking I just had some stubborn lead smeared somewhere that wouldn't come out with a simple brush and solvent.

It's good to go now.  I can get back to meaningful bullseye practice now.

Sounds like a homemade Lewis Lead Remover.

I'm incredibly impressed that you can shoot that well with a handgun and irons at 50 yards.  I haven't fitted my Kadet kit yet, but I know I've never turned in a 50 yard group like that with my Ruger Mk II.

This pistol has a red dot.  I can shoot it pretty well with irons, too, but this was all with an Ultradot Micro HD 2 moa red dot.   Gun has been good for 1.5" groups at 50 on a calm day with a rested shooter, however, so these aren't as good as it gets.

Is 0.22 really that dirty or is it only specific brands?

Just got home from 120 rounds through the Kadet in two simulated 600 point bullseye matches.  Gun is fine now.  I averaged 93, a little lower than when I am practicing all the time.  I haven't shot a practice match in 3 weeks.  I didn't clean a target today, but I had at least one "good" slow, timed, and rapid fire target.  I was not as steady today, probably due to some asthma medications.  I will shoot the 9mm slide when I have been off the asthma meds for 24 hours.  Today, it would have been a waste of ammo.

I think I may clean the barrel a little more often than I have been, like any time I see a zero shift.  I think I have been lucky in the past, removing the offending lead chunks with a brush and solvent.  This time it took some heavy duty copper Chore Boy on the brush plus the solvent to get it out.

The barrel is fine.  This barrel has nearly 45k rounds through it.  I fully expect to clean a target later this week in practice!!

Gun is good.  Shooter needs work.

I did a little better than clean one.
