CZ P09
« on: September 06, 2016, 07:42:09 PM »
hello folks,

Just purchased a full size P09 with the extended threaded barrel.  Went to the range and just shot 50 rounds and noticed that it has more recoil than my little XD .mod2 subcompact!  With the low bore axis, I'd  figure it would be a dream to shoot.  Anyone else encounter this?  Is rami something I should be considering instead?

I am surprised to hear that. With that large heavy slide, mine is a dream to shoot for a polymer with little recoil.

My P-09 has the softest recoil of any 9mm I've owned or shot. I've never shot a XD. Maybe I'm missing out on something.

This surprises me as well.  My P-09 is probably the best shooting of my four for me.

Very surprising to hear that, my P-09 recoils just as softly, if not softer, as my full-size PX4D and old Ruger P93.

Are we talking actual recoil or muzzle flip? Are you getting a good high hold on the gun? My P-07 is a dream too shoot even with my +P reloads.

What ammo are you using? Were the 50 rounds from the same box / type?

Never shot the Mod 2 but know several good shooters that own and love them. For me the CZ line of pistols has always been some of the best shooting and lowest felt recoil pistols I've ever shot.

I have a p09 on the way.  My p07 has very little recoil. But I go from a valor in 45 to the p07, so my perception might be from that.

I'll echo the comments above - My P09 has less recoil than shorter barrel pistols.  Able to reacquire target very quickly.

2,000+ rounds and never an FTE either...accuracy is very good as well.

Might check your grip ? especially your thumbs?

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I would say there is more muzzle flip than perhaps felt recoil. I also feel less flip and recoil on my Glock 19 even though I have very small hands. Also I noticed that I can't get a good solid contact of my left palm onto the side of the grip (right hand dominant by the way).

Is the smallest back strap on it? Sometimes they ship with the medium size. If you have small hands, verify that. Hope this helps you.

I sold my XD mod .2 subcompact to buy the po7 Gen 2. Don't get me wrong the XD is a very good gun but the Cz is by far a way better shooter, less muzzle flip a far better pistol. I'll never go back to the XD as my EDC.

The first time I fired my P09 I had to keep reminding myself that the holes I the target, the noise and the empties on the ground meant it really was firing off rounds.  The recoil was so light it just didn't seem possible it was firing.

Of course, I'd just finished firing about 150 rounds of .357 SIG through my M&P FS.  Recoil on that thing would occasionally destroy a CR123 in the streamlight attached to the frame.  I lost three before taking the light off the pistol.  The light would stop working, I'd remove the batteries and one of them would rattle when shaken, so something broke loose inside it from the recoil.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Good point. I'll check on that.
