1994 Pre B transitional CZ75 just a few questions
« on: November 30, 2016, 05:32:24 AM »
Hey all picked up a 1994 Pre B transitional 75 that was cerakote'd FDE its a very cool pistol its got the updated 75b controls, my questions are out of everything about the mags for these I am still super confused on which mags actually work and what ones don't. I have seen some people say the sp01 mags work others say they don't I have also seen some of the mec-gar's work with out modification but nothing every seems to clear, so If someone can help me out in finding mags that would rock as it has one that is honestly beat to crap. The other question I have is the slide looks dead on for a 75b so does that mean any of the sight options should work or am I wrong? Thanks for your time sorry about being such a noob, I have owned a few CZ's in the past but let them go this Transitional has gotten me right back in to them though as next month I also plan to pick up a p01 .

It varies. I would suggest MecGar 16 B magazines. If they hang up, all that's required is about two minutes with a file inside the magwell under the sear cage. It is said that the SP-01 mag will fit pre-b frames without modification. Yours being a transitional, it's likely that B mags will fit fine. Mine did.

The thing about mags with these is that they are all a little different.  I've had earlier models that will take them all and later models that won't.  You just have to try and see and, as Mr. Keese said above, do a little filing for those that don't.  Good luck and congrats on a nice buy.

My gunsmith friend just cuts it at the diameter change and then the grips fit over it.  He uses a dremel with a cutoff wheel.

I guess I depends on how you plan to use the gun.  If you plan to carry it you can either go with Meprolight night sights or Truglo TFX combination F/O, nights.  If it's just a range gun then you can look at what Cajun has for fiber optics.

Picked up a Mec Gar 16 for the B and it seated smoothly( loaded and unloaded ), locked the slide, and feeds like a dream going to order another one I did some massive cleaning on the original mag that came with it took all the rust off it and its just a bit pitted , But ya so in short 94 Transitional works perfectly with the 16 round mec gar 75b mags, now time to order a few more.

also changed out the recoil and hammer springs with wolff springs going to do the ejector and the firing pin next, after that its cut the lanyard loop to flush it and get some full size grips, Truglo's should be here in a day or two, was also thinking about a CZcustoms drop free mag brake any thoughts ?

I make sure my magazines drop free.  Though I've not bought one I think you can get "mag. brakes" that let the magazines fall out but still cover the hammer spring/opening in the rear of the frame.

On one compact I removed the mag brake.  On my Pre B CZ 85 I filed down the front of the posts (where the grip screws thread in) and cut the hook off the bottom of the mag brake so it still covers the hammer spring but does not contact the magazines.

If you dremel off the post for the old lanyard ring/loop, take it out of the frame first.  Measure well, too, so it doesn't end up short.  Probably insuring you cut it a little bit long and then making very small adjustments (metal removal) till you get it just right (checking regularly to insure you get it just right.)
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.
