CZ 85B and CZ 85 Combat discontinued
« on: January 03, 2017, 10:28:03 AM »
Looks like both the CZ 85B and CZ 85 Combat have officially been discontinued as of the end of 2016, per CZ-USA's website.

I am glad I got my 85 Combats while they were available, but this is especially disappointing because that was the only way to get a brand-new gun without a FPB, without buying a Shadow series. The 85C is a great gun to use as a base for a build for that reason.

Luckily most parts are interchangeable with a standard 75, but I am concerned about the long-term availability of slide stops. I will probably pick a few up on my next parts order.

I am guessing this is part of CZ's long-term plan to phase out the standard firing control group among non-Shadow guns, and make the Omega trigger system the norm. The new 75B Omega that has been released has ambi-controls for left-handed shooters, which I suspect is the "replacement" model for the 85 series guns.

I hope that is not the case.  I also hope that CZ doesn't phase out their metal framed guns for polymer except for the Shadow line.

Hmmm...thanks for the heads up. I'll probably order slidestops for mine soon. I should have done it during the 15% off sale. [bangshead]

It's interesting the 85 is still on the page title "Full Size 75/85 Seies", but the pistols are gone. :(

I am not all too surprised though to be honest. I don't think very many people were buying 85s. It seems evenn some left handed shooters are not big fans of the ambi controls for some reason.

As a right handed shooter who bought the 85C for no FPB, I think the Shadow is worth the extra money, but I just didn't know what I wanted at the time as a first time buyer.

I don't think we need to worry about them running out of slide stops though. They should have plenty of extras.

I really like my Pre P CZ 85.  I don't know why I seem to prefer it over a standard CZ 75, but the idea of the ambidextrous controls just appeals to me a great deal.

I may have to pick one up if I see it at a gun show, just to "put on lay away" in my safe for a possible future need.

Did they every make a CZ 85 in stainless steel.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.

I want to say yes, but I am not 100% sure.

Nope, but the 75B Stainless does have ambi safeties.

They did make an 85 Combat in Satin Nickel, but they are VERY hard to find.

Ahh. I saw those when I was buying my 85C, but I'm not a fan of Satin Nickel.

When you string words together like that it's just gibberish.

Now that's a pretty picture of a pretty pistol.  Makes it worse, wanting one I mean.

Is this base on anything specific? First i have heard this plan.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Either CZC or CGW SAO flat trigger is my guess.

I dunno, I'm just not a fan of silver colored guns. I much prefer black!

My silver guns always speak highly of you.  ;D
