PICKED UP MY FIRST P-09 ON WEDNESDAY
« on: February 12, 2017, 09:40:49 AM »
I had already ordered the tune up parts from CGW's so yesterday I installed everything but the replacement hammer. Did all the polishing, installed the short reset kit, 15# hammer spring, reduced power trigger return spring, heavier sear spring and the CGW sight set. I cut 10 thousands off of the factory hammer hooks to get rid of the creep while I wait on the CGW hammer to arrive. I ordered the new hammer just in case the Omega hammer turned out to be like the 75 Series hammers but as it turned out I may not need a new hammer. I have a 2.5# creepless single action, an 8# smooth double action and I am very impressed with how soft this platform shoots. The accuracy of the P-09 is astounding. I went through over a thousand rounds yesterday of different weight bullets and powder combinations, it's hard to find the best load when they all make one large hole. I enjoyed shooting this gun so much I was still shooting when it was almost too dark to see the sights. Today I am making some skate board tape grips for this bad boy and as soon as I get them installed going back outside to diminish more of my 9mm ammo supply. I don't know why I waited so long to buy one of these. Grabagun had this one for $424.00 and to say I am happy would be an understatement!

While my P09 is mostly stock, I agree with you- it's a superb handgun. I used it last season in IDPA fairly successfully. What I enjoy most is the lack of recoil enabling the sights to remain on target. Great gun
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

Excellent!!  You sound just like me when I got my first P-09, the one that I've shot out to 200 yards several times and to 100 almost routinely.  I don't recall ever having a bad result with that pistol, even though it took a bunch of work to get the ergonomics right FOR ME.  Mechanically, I don't think there is anything better, my other CZ's are close, but all three of my P series pistols are phenomenal shooters.  Ugly plastic guns!!  Add JB-Weld and Sugru and make them uglier!  And skate board tape.  Add a red dot and it is a bullseye match gun and a sub 6" grouper at 100 yards.

Gratz on the P-09! Glad to hear it is working out for you.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I also really enjoy my P-09. I appreciate the trigger pulls I am able to achieve on this platform.  My SA won't get any lighter than 2.5 lbs or so, but I've gotten the DA down to just a few ounces over 5lbs.  I just wish I could shoot the thing accurately. Haven't found a load I can shoot as well as my Shadow yet.  Mind sharing some of the loads you tested.
Pretty much a CZ fanboy.

5# DA ??? You should be grateful for that,  on my p07 I can't get mine below 9.5 #DA pull ... without spending a load more money on custom cgw parts ..but I do have a 2#8 oz SA ...Oh it is my EDC

124 grain coated round nose and Prima V was the winner today. But all the targets I have fired look pretty much the same when fired off of a rest. What I have tried so far:
124 MGHP, 4.3 grns of N320 loaded to 1.110
124 ACME, 3.9 grns of Prima V loaded to 1.125
124 MGRN, 4.1 grns of N320 loaded to 1.140
135 ACME, 3.5 grns of Prima V loaded to 1.135
147 ACME, 3.4 grns of N320 loaded to 1.110
147 ACME, 3.0 grns of e3 loaded to 1.110

About the only real difference in any of the groups I found was that the 124 grain bullets printed slightly lower than the heavier ones, otherwise the groups sizes are a coin toss and range from 1.125 to 1.5" for 5 rounds.

I read it twice in this thread.

"my first P09"

Sounds like there will be another one.

Happened to me, too.  I bought a 9MM P09, a few months later I bought a .40 S&W P09.  The 9 is scary accurate, the .40, not so much, at least not with the same load that shoots so well in the P07 .40 S&W.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Of my four CZ pistols, I like my P-09 the best.  It just feels and shoots great.  Now, if only I could do it justice....

20 Yards off-hand, that's some bleeped fine shooting right there!

Was the cut you made on the trigger the largest reduction of creep?
