Sportsman's Warehouse had two stores in San Antonio Texas a number of years back.  They went bankrupt,  but just closed most of their stores except the home stores in Utah.  I liked this store.

Gander Mountain might do the same. :-\

The Gander thats four miles from me in Myrtle Beach has only been open about two years and I've been in there maybe a half dozen times but never bought anything.
I went in once wanting to look at a Sig 239 to see how it felt in my hand and possibly see if I could make a deal.
I stood at the counter foe fifteen minutes while two employees chatted with two customers down the counter, I left and haven't and won't go back. I called and complained to the manager and he nearly begged me to come back and said he would personally wait on me but the damage was done and you only have one chance to make a first impression.

I called the Dick's here in Vegas to get a price on powder and was told they don't handle gun things.

The Bass shop has probably the best selection of certain things, and actually carries a selection of gunpowder. The one LGS that has a good selection has always been way high and only the desperate shop there. At least among the people I know. We've all been desperate once. LOL

There's a Sportsman's Warehouse in Chattanooga. Reasonable prices and a large selection of reloading supplies.

No doubt.  Gander Mountain always has the highest prices, hands down. Consistently. I will walk in occasionally to check out selection  just for kicks.

It doesn't surprise me, I suppose.

Truth!!

Well they are just selling off around 30 stores for now, maybe because with their high prices and too fast expansion.

Good riddance.

I'll be the first to admit I do not like GM's pricing as far as firearms are concerned but other items such as fishing equipment are not that far out of line and I do purchase such things from them.
I will say your comment is in VERY POOR taste. People losing their jobs is never "GOOD RIDDANCE". Not cool.

I am sorry people will be out of work.  I keep getting better email coupons from them.  $20 off $100, then 10% but really restricted, and now 15% off nearly everthing - all within 10 days or so.

In today's Sunday San Antonio Express-News they had a multi-page supplement, but no huge discounts. No mention of "going out of business", yet this is for sure one of the stores slated to be closed.

Yeah, and naturally like just about everyone else who runs into financial issues they're closing the one closest to me.  So I won't be going to any of them anymore. When franchises close the one in my area they are off my list forever.

Many, MANY, emails from Gander Mountain that they are closing all their Georgia stores and selling the fixtures.........discounts bring their prices into line with what I can find every day elsewhere......
