I wonder if CZ would make another run of 83's in .32?
« on: February 16, 2017, 06:01:33 PM »
As the title says, I wonder if CZ could be convinced to make one final run of new production 83's chambered in .32? It seems like there are a LOT of people interested in these and not a whole lot to go around, causing a bidding frenzy any time one is listed on GunBroker. I certainly wouldn't mind another commercial non-surplus one to have as a keeper.

The reason I even ponder this, is that just one year ago CZ did a run of 83's in .380 (some blued with 10 round mags and some poylcoat with 12 round mags), so it seems that they still have the tooling and ability to make them. I have heard that this was a special order from one distributor, but i'm not sure which one, nor what the minimum order quantity would be for CZ to even consider it.

...just one year ago CZ did a run of 83's in .380 (some blued with 10 round mags and some poylcoat with 12 round mags)...

I happened to get on of those CZ83's in .380 with the 10 round (never could get more than 9 in them!) mags.

I bought the regular 12 round mags since I can share them with my CZ82 in 9mm Makarov.

I gave the 10 round mags to another forum member around Christmas time--as I didn't see any point in keeping them around.

The form-factor for the CZ82/83 is ideal for my hands, so I'd be interested in a CZ83 in .32 ACP.

I'd buy an 83 in 7.65Br if it was made as a new limited production run. Another mouse in the house.

Something to keep in mind with CZUB production of models no longer in production (or for future designs, e.g., a single stack that some here are clamoring for) is that they do not make magazines in-house. In this case, CZUB would also need to have a matching stash of the .32 magazines on hand. Otherwise, they would have to contract out for new manufacture at an appropriate price point.

I doubt those who recently paid a premium for .32 caliber 83's would appreciate a new production run. I have to say, I don't get it. If my 70 was chambered in .380 it would actually be carried. No offense intended to those that like .32.

I'd get one... Maybe 2 (one to shoot and one to save for a few years down the road) . That round seems nice to use for new shooters, like younger kids, to build up tolerance to recoil. It's cheap to reload too. I've considered a 70 for this, purpose but haven't looked into it too hard.

My first CZ was an 83 I inherited from my Brother. 12 round mags. It was my favorite handgun, until I got my hands on an SP-01.
Honestly though, I found the recoil shooting 380's in this particular gun to feel about the same as 9mm. Maybe it was the hard 'Bakelite' type plastic grips. Maybe it was just me. I wanted to consolidate my ammo to less expensive and more readily available 9mm, (this was a couple years ago during the ammo drought) so I traded it toward a RAMI BD; soon followed by a P-01.  No regrets.

I would get one for sure. In fact, I'm on the hunt for a .32 CZ83 right now.
Czech it out!

The latest one on GB just went for $1,000. And it wasn't even a commercial model, but a really nice surplus gun.

It seems like there are a fair amount interested, and I'm sure more support could be drummed up amongst other forums and CZ groups to get others interested. I will send a PM to Stuart @ CZ Custom and see if there's any way they could get CZ-USA to request a run of them from CZUB if the demand is there. I do not have my hopes up, but it's at least worth asking the question. Otherwise it looks like the only way to get one other than pure luck will be to duke it out with 20 other people on GB and end up shelling out the big bucks. It seems that the new norm for these is close to 4-digit dollar amounts.

I just heard back from Stuart. This is a no-go from CZ.

Unfortunately what is already out there is all that there will be.
