CZ 455 purchase
« on: February 17, 2017, 07:47:59 AM »
Hey Guys! I have been looking and thinking about getting a CZ 455 Varmint in 22 LR. It seems to have good ratings on CZ site. Any thoughts on this gun?

My FFL can get it for me out the door for $485. Is that a decent price? They seem to be selling for around $430 on GB, but then with shipping, transfer, etc. it comes close to $485. IF you know of a significantly cheaper source, please let me know.

Thanks

I have one with the fluted barrel and thumbhole stock.  I really like it.  Shoots as well as much more expensive rifles.  I would like to change the trigger however.  Timney offers one that's reasonable and the Mr. Fly when it's available.

I have a CZ 452 I bought a few years ago as they were being discontinued and its a tack driver.

Forget the price and just buy one. As soon as you take it out you'll forget the extra $20 dollars you might have saved. Trust me on that.

Thanks Guys. Buds has it for $430. I will give the business to my FFL, it will all come out in the wash. I know my FFL will give me better service than the online sites.

Looking forward to setting this sucker with a bipod, nice scope and yodave trigger spring. I'm mainly getting it to get some trigger time without spending $1/round on my 30-06.

I'm sure I will be back with many questions.

Just sayin' - but this is a 3-shot group from this morning - stock CZ 455 Varmint - Wolf Match Extra ammo, from a bipod & shoulder, no rear bag.

Second outing for this gun, so I think I'm happy  :D

I saw your previous thread. You got a good one! Have you done any upgrades to the gun?

Nothing apart from the bipod (UTG 9"-ish) and a single-shot adapter cos I hate magazine loading. :)

Hopefully this isn't too late. I got mine from Gander Mountain for just under $500 out the door (includes taxes and everything). I absolutely love the rifle and it has made me start getting into 50yd benchrest shooting. My wallet is not happy but I am :)

Thanks. My FFL (who works out of his garage and doesn't really like ordering guns since he can't get good prices) was able to get it for me for $485 out the door. The cheapest I found was Buds, for $431. By the time I paid for transfer, etc. I was almost at $485 anyway, so I figured I would support the local guy, even if it costs a few bucks more.

Do you have one at 50 or 100 yards?

Not yet - won't get to a 50yd range until April at the earliest. :)

With good ammo, a good scope, little wind, and trigger control, 50 yards will look like 25 did.

They are scary good. They even make me look like I know how to shoot which is saying something.
