Anyone close to coming out with Poly or similar extended charging handles ? I love my HBI handguard but bleep I wish I had a extended handle that doesn't chew the rails up like my aluminum handles were doing "sold them"

HBI posted on FB that they are 4-5 weeks out on their polymer charging handles.

How bad does the CH rub against the aftermarket HG? I was about to order an HBI HG but wasn't sure how bad it would rub on the Theta.

It runs pretty bad. It hangs up is the worse problem.

I went back to stock and don't like it. Will be getting a polymer one asap.

White lithium based grease would be a much better option, IMO. Frog lube can gum up...

I'm also working on a solution for this. No time frame yet.

Thanks for posting this for those of us without social media.

Assuming it's typical HBI quality, I'm going to buy two the moment they drop.

You bet!

Lube doesnt really help the main problem is all the aftermarket handles have some play in them and alot of square or sharp corners, so if the handle is pulled back at any angle other than completely straight you end up scraping off anodizing and or aluminum. The same thing happens when the bolt pushes the handle forward again. Once the anodizing is gone then you start to get stiction where the handle actually starts hanging up or getting stuck. This does not seem to be limited to just hbi, same issues appear with manticore hand guards any brand or model charging handle.

With all due respect, here at Manticore we have had zero complaints about this and you are the only person I know of who has ever said they have had this issue.

I put the HBI "reduced pressure spring" on the charge handle on the Micro/k, and it hardly contacts the guard, but it seems to work OK.  The roll pin they sent is a little big, so I used the original.  I could broach out the hole to get theirs started I suppose.

A square channel could be put in the hand-guard design and a square profiled grooved piece of heat resistant material (e.g. duralon, teflon) could be put in the channel.  It could be changed out if it wore down. one could use a metal or plastic handle. Probably add $50 to the price of a handguard.   (free idea, ...wonder if it has a patent?

Does anyone here actually have problems with their charging handle?

I've run my EVO through numerous courses now and never had it get snagged on anything or have trouble articulating it.
