CZ82 using 9x18 +P?
« on: February 25, 2017, 01:09:13 PM »
Has anyone fired +P ammo through your CZ 82? I don't plan on doing this on a regular basis, but I am thinking about adding my 82 to my CCW rotation and would like to know what my alternatives are for carry ammo. Currently I have either the Hornady Critical Defense or the Buffalo Bore +P. I've read that there is no true SAMMI +P standard for 9x18 Mak so I'm looking to see if anyone here has tried it or read any more about it as a self defense round.

Obviously I plan on trying out both for reliability before I carry them and depend on them to save my life!  8)

I use the Hornady Critical Defense in my vz 82. Since there is no SAAMI +P spec for 9x18, I have no plans to buy or try any for old East Bloc pistols.

Only 4 cartridges have an actual SAAMI +P specification - 9x19 Parabellum (Luger), .38 Special, .38 Super and .45 ACP.

I carry Hornady Custom.  I tested some Underwood +P after watching Mr GunsnGear's review, and didn't think that it felt noticeably hotter than the Hornady.  He was getting about 1200 FPS from the Underwood and just under 1000 for the Hornady.
