New P-09 owner, couple questions
« on: March 12, 2017, 10:21:21 AM »
Hey all!!
I literally just grabbed by first CZ ever on a completely impulsive purchase, but I can justify it!

I picked up a P-09 MHS Trials model in .40 and it's great. Previous owner put the DA/SA kit in and it feels buttery smooth.

My big question is, I don't usually shoot .40 but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Is it possible to just drop in a 9mm P-09 barrel and add some 9mm mags or are the slides drastically different?

I'm looking to shoot this thing and not make it a safe queen, like the original intent was!

Obligatory Pic:

Thanks in advance!
Derek

Check this link there were only a handful made.

It sure is limited rarity!!! Which was the exact reason I jumped on it like a rabid dog.

It's LNIB with very minor wear and the DA/SA kit installed with the DAO kit in the box.

I paid $1100 for it, however my state has a "tax" on guns that aren't on the official AG approved roster. I understand that these were much less than that originally, but for an additional few hundred dollars, I have quite the unicorn.

I still plan on shooting this thing for sure. It's gorgeous and the sound of the slide actuation is intoxicating. I'm still grinning  ;D  ;D ;D

Not really true. The roster is meaningless as you can buy any gun you want here in MA. Just need to know the right dealers. That's how I've bought (all at free state prices) my polished CZ75b, dan wesson PM9, and Coonan 357 mag 1911. Hopefully getting the new Shadow 2 soon....

But anyway, congrats on getting one of these. If you're new to CZ you'll quickly become addicted to them. Awesome guns. Great find!

I'm fully aware of the "loopholes" in the state, and have used them to my advantage a few times yet.

Doesn't mean I can just go to MFS and pick up a Glock 19 and there are a surprising amount of people who are willing to "pay the tax."

I just realized the thread right below this has your gun on it also,  nevermind
This means that you and Stewart have the same gun, that's very strange

Right. You'd have to drive to a MA dealer further north and west to do that....

looking forward to the range report.

JMHO...Being that there's only 50 of these shipped to the US . And that in the Gun World there aren't very many unicorns ..
I wouldn't try to modify anything and don't put too many rounds through it. I know you plan on shooting it ,but you know what this guns going to be worth about 25 years down the road? RETIREMENT $$$$$$....well almost.
It's your gun and you can do what you want with it.

Give CZ Custom a call. As with anything, slight fitting may be required. I'm not sure if the P09 .9mm and .40 barrels share the same OD. I'm thinking they do, just not sure.
   And congrats on the pistol
