CZ 83 serial number
(1/1)
hcaroselli:
Hello - I am pretty new to this forum but not so new to CZ firearms. After looking for quite a while a LGS advertised 2 CZ 83 pistols in .380. By the time I got there, they only had one left. They seem pretty scarce so I snatched it. The dealer said it was surplus gun. I am not sure what means specifically. It definitely will not be mistaken for a new piece but it doesn't seem horrible. I am waiting for a background check so I don't have it, hence no pictures.
Is there a place where I can look up the serial number and perhaps find out more information on this pistol?
The price is $349.00. If that's fair, good. If I paid too much, I would like to know but there isn't much I can do at this point.
Thanks.
Hector

These have been coming in batches over the past few years. The recent ones are claimed to be from Israel and used by LEO/security forces. You can tell the year of manufacture on the surplus pistols by looking on the right hand side of the frame above either the trigger (for those with the military acceptance mark she ##X) or near the front above the the trigger guard takedown (for those with the single proof mark). If you need some comparison on value, I suggest looking at what CDI Sales is offering on the big auction site and decide if you got good value. Either way, it's a fun pistol to shoot even though some folks feel some snappiness in the recoil.
