Replacing the plastic grips on my surplus CZ83
(1/1)
Rabbit57:
Hello forum,
I am new to this forum, I am hoping to get some much needed help with replacing my grips. I picked up a surplus CZ model 83, it has a parkerized finish and a stud and lanyard ring on the left lower edge of the mag well. I was taking the pistol apart for some cleaning and I noticed the right grip panel was cracked at the hole for the grip screw. I contacted Midway USA, they carried factory replacement grips for the CZ83. The grips are factory black plastic and they are brand new. They almost fit, but when I get the right grip panel to line up with the screw hole, the panel does not want to fit flush at the top. I searched YouTube for a how to video, but no luck. Before I go any further, I am hoping someone here has created such a video, if not, maybe some good advice.
I also have to figure out how to properly fit the left panel, the factory replacement panel is not cut for the lanyard ring stud.
Thanks in advance for your time,
Rabbit

There is no any standard CZ 82/83 pistol having cut for lanyard ring on the grips... because of lanyard ring is part of main spring plug!

Post a picture I'll be your lanyard ring on your cracked pistol

I'm guessing that the OP has a surplus pistol that has been modified by the former user organization to accept a side mounted lanyard ring. It's more commonly seen on the CZ 75s. You can see the stud in these photos from this particular dealer.
Probably just need to replace the stud/pin that's retaining the mainspring plug with a regular one.
