So, I got a new toy, a MantisX pistol training device. It uses an iPhone for a user interface. I played with it in dry fire and posted some videos in the General Firearms section. Then Sunday, I went to the range for the live fire testing of the device. An electronic device using an iPhone as a datalogger.
So, target cam, shooter cam, iPhone cam, monitors, sound recorder, backup wireless mics for the backup audio, plus the device and iPhone. By myself, with a back so sore I can't hardly walk. Plus a red dot on a P-09 since it has a proper rail segment. Plus cables, spare batteries and SD cards.
At first, the device wouldn't work. I forgot to charge it after dry fire on Saturday. Then I had to change the settings for live fire.
Foggy at first, then sunny, then cloudy, had to have the iPhone out in the open where I could get to it, to the left so it wouldn't get pelted with brass from the P-09.
40 rounds later, I had everything working OK. The P-09 and the device itself never were any problem, starting and stopping all the electronics was tough, and it showed up in the trigger control, thus demonstrating the device better than a couple of 98+ score targets!! Right? I hope so. Here it is...
P-09 still hits where it is pointed, every time.
This is fun. This isn't easy.
