Sphinx SDP springs
« on: March 22, 2017, 10:19:51 AM »
Hi
Recently picked up a Sphinx SDP and really like the gun, however the double action trigger is really heavy.
Of course, now that ive picked one up it seems Cajun no longer offers their spring kit for the Sphinx.

I figure the springs used in the kit, are probably just from other cz pistols. Anyone know which ones are compatible with the Sphinx to help improve the trigger?

Thanks

I'm at work so can't look it up. Search my posts : I had a couple write ups. And you are correct it's all springs used on the 75 and p-01 series from CZ. The reason Cajun quite working or offering Sphinx parts was due to the difficulty of removing the firing pin spring in the sphinx. Which is tough but no where near impossible. You do destroy the Kriss Pin though. So My guess is CGW couldn't make a decent buck :

I searched. couldn't find a reference as to which springs were compatible from which models.
found reference that I could use the p07 firing pin retaining roll pin.

I replaced the hammer spring and it lightened up the DA trigger somewhat and it was incredibly easy. I think it was just the lighter CZ hammer spring from Wolff, but I know I found it in someone else's post here.  I hope that helps!

Here is something to get you started: You'll also need this https://cajungunworks.com/product/61100-tempered-spring-steel-firing-pin-retaining-pin/

Don't forget to polish the parts

Rick53, I've done a little bit of searching and from what I understand, the CZ 75 compact and the  P-01 (non-omega) springs will fit the SDP compact. Am I correct with my assumption? If they are interchangeable, would the results be similar when you upgrade the springs in the SDP compact with the CGW CZ75 and P-01 (non-omega) springs?

Thank you,

-J

Well, I tried to order the SPGK1 3 Piece Spring Kit and was told by David Milam that the kit will not fit the Sphinx. I guess the only part that will fit the sphinx from CGW is the reduced power trigger return spring. Thank you for replying.

I'd get the reduced power Trigger spring and then buy the kit mentioned in the video above

I got the Modern Weapon System sphinx spring combo and it's worked great! I personally had no problem with the pin in the slide holding the firing pin and spring in. It's just important to use a roller pin punch as they say in the video from MWS. Didn't damage the pin and good to go! Much easier than getting into a Sig Legion slide where you have to remove the extractor to even GET to the fp retaining pin; and then it's only half exposed!
