Nice shot.......but I am a little confused. The POI on the plate wouldn't have hit the balloon. So did just hitting the steel pop the balloon? What am I missing?

The bullet was dropping.  Like he said, he had to aim over 150 feet high.  The bullet was falling more than flying.

My wife and I have a 100 yd. range and a 40 yd. range . She has been shoot pretty regularly now for 5 yrs. Her pistols of choice is a 1911 Sig. .22LR  and a CZ75 9mm. at 25-40 yds. We also have a plywood target 32"x80" (the same size as our bedroom door) with human outline on it . She shoots at 5-7 yds. and practices "Mag Dump"....Shoot until the firearm is empty.

I shoot from 5 to 10 meters depending how I feel.  In most situations I figure 5 to 7 meters is the most likely engagement range.

The yearly LESB course I fire to retain H.R. 218 CCW is 1 to 25 yards.  I like that.  Some say it's too close and too far.  I like the weak hand and mal-function drills also. I try to shoot the course as often as it's offered locally.

5-30 feet. Maybe a little farther with my Scorpion. But the rest are handguns.

For me it depends on the use of the gun. If I am using a pistol for self defense I will practice most between 5 to 7 yards due to the fact that most defensive contact situations will happen around that distance. If I am using the pistol for competition or target, I will usually go up to 25 yards. AR-15 anywhere from 25 to 300 yards. For me it really depends on the use of the gun and what type of practice I will need to be proficient with it.

until next time...

I'm just a plinker with a lot to learn / re-learn.

HD-Glocks 7-25 yards with emphasis inside of 15.
Target- Sig and CZ 10-25 yards with emphasis outside of 15.
Steel - 23 yards
AR and 10-22 - 25 yards for sighting, 50/100 for normal target shooting.

One day I'm going to grow up and be like you guys  8)

For long guns firing rifle ammunition (5.56 NATO, 7.62 NATO, 7.62X39, 7.62X54R, and 5.45X39) I normally practice at 50 and 100 meters. Keep in mind that none of my weapons have a true scope. My 9mm Para Uzi Mod B carbine is good out to 100 m but I prefer to fire on 50 m targets using it.

200 yards with a Rami, back to the target shooting over my shoulder while looking at the target through a mirror.
