CZ Pro Tek II or CZ Custom SDP P-01
« on: April 20, 2017, 08:51:03 PM »
I have the ability to maybe (wifey permitting) purchase one of the above from a small local shop in my hometown. Pro TEK is for sale at $1300 mint condition all black and the SDP is for sale for $1000.  Is the Pro TEK II worth the extra $300? From what I gathered mechanically there isn't much difference as far as internals just that the TEK has smoother rounder lines and possibly a few oz lighter. Can anyone comment? Both are used in mint to excellent condition.

I don't have pics on hand. I would have to go to my local shop and take them. However both are in mint condition with one having maybe 100 rounds and the other maybe 300 and just a range gun.

While I'm tempted by Pro Tek II, the price keeps me away. A lot of the cost is in the extra milling of the frame/slide for carry purposes, and I already have PCRs for carry so it did not make much sense as I would not have used the Pro Tek II for carry. That said, at a price of $1300 for a mint Pro Tek II (essentially the price of a new SDP compact)…….for me that would be a no brainer. Plus I think the Pro Tek has the short reset, which the SDP does not [Edit from Psyop's post: some Pro Teks may not have the short reset]. 1 vote for grab the Pro Tek!  [don't think you could go wrong with either, though]. FWIW.

You'll just have to handle both as each one's custom trigger and sights (possibly grips...changeable but at a cost) might just be among the key deciding factors on that $300 difference. I don't know about the SDP but don't assume all ProTeks have a short reset trigger.
