For rugged reliability I agree, either the Mini-14 or AK.  Yes, the AR is more accurate.
Mini 14's are good if you have very large targets.

None of my AR's are 5.56/223    ;D
I don't have an AK but I want one...
Sorry, had to remove the list of firearms due to server overload. I hope you now have a more pleasant experience on this forum.

"Hey, do you want to try my Glock?"

I think an M2 Browning on a pintle mount in the back of a Jeep would handle just about any situation one might encounter

Neither one of those.
Hated the M16 in the Army and AKs remind me of somebody's 8th grade shop project.
If I was to ever procure a MSR, it would be a VZ 58.

I take it you were in the 24th ID.  I was in the 24th in 1982 and 1983.  I bought my Mod B Uzi carbine in the Western Auto in Hinesville in 1983.

Back to the subject -- I like my vz 58V but it gets very hot quickly.

I've had three AK's, and none of them were very accurate, nor reliable.  I sold them, and have kept my Colt M4/6920.  It is very, very reliable, and will shoot sub MOA benchrested.  It is more ergonomic, than the AK, and mounting optics are a breeze.  I prefer the AR overall, but even like my Russian SKS's better than the AK.

As a platform I prefer the AKM. I own a Wasr 10/63 and a FEG AMD63 both of which are accurate enough and reliable. I still slightly prefer the VZ58 over the AK due to better ergonomics, last round hold open, non rotating bolt, and milled receiver. If I have to go into combat it's none of the above though, that's when I break out my HK91 clones in 308! G3s for life baby!

If you are going to change the rules and add in the HK91, then I will have to trump that with the "Right Arm of the Free World" - the FN-FAL.

I really enjoy my Colt LE6920.  Accurate, reliable, easy to handle, and I know the AR15/M16 platform very well.

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Twice, actually. 1983-86 then again 1991-93.
I remember Western Auto well. Used to buy ammo there.
Just down the street from city hall, IIRC.
