A reporter has her first experience with guns at the NRA convention and is intrigued.

Good article, thanks for sharing. While I don't share her internal philosophical struggle regarding guns, I can appreciate her point of view.

Possibly the most reasoned and considered article about firearms I've ever seen associated with CNN.  The author did have at least one glaring blind spot, repeatedly stating the "non-violent" nature of India while ignoring the sectarian violence that repeatedly grips some areas of the country.  People are slaughtered with machetes or burned alive by mobs of "pious" rioters, but at least they didn't get shot.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that one. I was just really floored by the most even handed firearms related article I have ever seen from CNN - wonder if they fired her yet?

You can bet she'll be called on the carpet and set straight in short order. The Communist News Network will not tolerate free thinkers on their payroll.

Thank Goodness Trump won
If you are not a member if the NRA maybe you should think about becoming one.
The 2A is a rule not a suggestion it is a right not a privilege.

Good article from a perspective I have rarely seen or considered.

I believe most folks have moderate views but it's the end member groups who make all the noise.

The NRA is one of the largest groups out there at over 5 million members, in a country of over 300 million. I believe the only group larger than the NRA when it comes to lobbying power and being represented in the halls of power is AARP.

It was an accident, certainly. Some of her earlier FB posts on Atlanta did not seem quite as even-handed, IIRC. Her other topics seemed predictably predictable.

And how did CNN fans react? It's not like people haven't been saying the same thing as she did for years already...

But I would give her credit for this effort.

Notice how she starts the day in a provocative stance:
"I walk around with some trepidation, but I'm determined to strike up conversations. I begin with this question: "Why do you want to own an object that can kill another human being?"

Later, as she feels comfortable through her conversation with 'normal' people:
"What would you tell my friends in India who say Americans are infatuated with guns?"

By mid day she is now considering her position and her questions merely probe the various aspects of the position, historical, political, social,  and personal. In its entirety we make a good case. Unfortunately, in a large forum, the debaters  do not consider an entire argument. The nonsense of talking over each other before either side can complete their argument is the base for our conflict. My point goes both ways.
It all sounded a lot funnier in my head.
