Anyone have an idea when the new Phantom will hit the U.S. market ?

I have been watch for that too. I fear it's name will indicate availability.
It doesn't look any different than the original.

Only difference I'm aware of is the newer productions come with a couple different backstraps, the originals only had one.  And, yes the name does probably speak to its impending availability

   You mean one only or one extra?
  Mine came with 2. A med. and large I believe.
   The only other thing I've heard is the updated polymer of the 07/09, P10c.

As I understand it, the original Phantom's only came with one size backstrap.......the current productions have more than one to keep in line with other manufacturers that provide a couple different size backstraps for shooters to better fit their hand to the gun.....please correct me if I am mistaken, I'm always willing to learn

Mines a 2012. Every one I've read about came with 2 backstraps. That's not to say that the earliest versions didn't only have one, I've just not heard that before.

I may be mistaken then  ......I too have been awaiting the Phantom's return, I don't have one currently but am looking forward to getting one when they do become available.

   You won't regret it. Mine's as comfortable to shoot as my Tactical.

I've almost bought a P-09 a few times, but have held off hoping to find a Phantom. I think the grip my fit me better, but have never met one in person.

From photos, it looks like the frame is a little wider than my SP-01.

Actually the Phantom frame is a smidge narrower. (WRONG! The Phantom "slide" is a smidge narrower)
    The Phantom easily fits in an SP01 holster, (WRONG! It "can" fit the SP01 holster. Pretty snug, but fits in mine anyways)
     the SP01 is pretty tight in my Phantom holster. A big part of this is the slide profile, the Phantom is cut a little different, making it seem smaller.
   I can try to get measurements and pics tonite if you want.
     Edited to chastise myself and add correct info.

Why not get both? Get the P09 now and save back up and wait on the Phantom. Sadly but honestly, I don't see them coming in any time soon. I think the P10c is taking all of their attention right now.

That's what I will end up doing. But still must wait as I found a SP-01 .40 a few weeks ago. My wife thinks I need to spend money on a roof and windows. What's that about?

The roof goes on Saturday so I might be able snag a 09 after that. I missed one that went for $360 new on GB last week.
